Our deep-seated commitments to race and racism actually work most powerfully when we don't see them working at all. When they sneak up on us, surprising us and those around us with what just came out of our mouths. Racism is hard to eradicate because it is good at fooling us into believing it isn't there to begin with - in the criminal justice system's racially lopsided scales or in residential segregation's economic, social, and cultural implications. And even when racism jumps out and stares us in the face, we are way too invested in the rhetoric of colorblindness to even acknowledge its presence.

Fascism, by definition of Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary in 1983, does not have to be as extreme as Hitler's Nazism. Rather, it is:

"a system of government characterized by rigid one-party dictatorship, suppression of the opposition (unions, other, especially leftist, parties, minority groups, etc.), the retention of private ownership of the means of production under centralized governmental control, belligerent nationalism and racism, glorification of war, etc. First instituted in Italy in 1922."

You get called a "racist" because you are a racist. It isn't a game. The fact that you don't recognize that says it all.

The fact is that you want to pretend it doesn't so you can continue to treat people that are different than you like they are beneath you.

That's all dependent upon whether or not you buy the defense version of what took place.
I don't and the verdict is no indication that the jury did either.
As a matter of fact, several jurors believed he was guilty, but felt the prosecution didn't present them with enough evidence to meet the legal requirements to convict.
Your hook-line-and-sinker acceptance of the defense narrative tells me a little something about you I don't think I wanted know.
My response was related to whether or not Mr. Zimmerman would have shot someone of another race in the same situation. In my opinion, he would have. He did not shoot Mr. Martin just because he was black. He shot Mr. Martin as he was being pummeled and had no means of escape.

So you believe the prosecution's narrative even though they were not able to prove it?

Mr. Zimmerman obviously shot Mr. Martin. There is no doubt about that. The question is whether or not Mr. Zimmerman felt his life was in danger. It is MY OPINION based on the EVIDENCE that he did.

My "hook-line-and-sinker acceptance of the defense narrative" is based on the evidence presented. If evidence had been presented otherwise, I would have accepted it also.

I've decided that despite the fact that you won't understand, or accept, the truth, I'm going to put it out there anyway.

Mexico...

Same-sex marriages are legally performed in Mexico City and in the state of Quintana Roo.

Same-sex civil unions are legally performed in Mexico City and in the states of Coahuila and Colima.

...same-sex marriages performed within Mexico are recognized by the 31 states without exception...

What I believe is that you misunderstood what I said.

The jury did not decide that the defense had proven their narrative was true.

They ruled that prosecution had failed to provide adequate evidence to meet the legal requirements for a conviction.

Your post suggested otherwise.

Clearly you care about the unborn and that's fine. What do you want for the child after it's born. Are you prepared to take care of it? What if the child needs public assistance. Do you vote for politicians that want to cut funding for social services?
No one is proabortion. However it is legal and unfortunately sometimes necessary. If safe abortions aren't available to the disadvantaged they will seek out unsafe remedies.
having sex and having babies are inalienable rights, right?(life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness)

going to stangers and asking for HELP with the consequences of such actions is NOT a right, right?

when such assistance is rendered, it is called 'charity', right?

since when has the government, fed/state/whatever, been AUTHORIZED or EMPOWERED to be in the charity business?

during the days of our Founding, when the NEW governments of the NEW States were asked for 'charitiable' funds for a Public hosptial, B. Franklin, one of our Founding Fathers, said NO! to such government actions and went after Private donors and monies to the tune of $25,000!

the fact that the People rejected the concept of GOVERNMENT charity works from Day One tells me that WELFARE was NEVER intended by the writters and framers and Founders of either OUR Constitution or Country, PERIOD.

also, such things as Debtor Prisons were also NOT supported(the flip side of charity!).

do you really want the FG minding YOUR personal, economical business? what it GIVES, IT can also TAKE.

YOUR Forefathers and mothers, like mine, fought for and ENVISIONED a Land Free from as MUCH GOVERNMENT intervention as possible.

to stand WITH Big Govt is an INSULT and AFFRONT to THEM and OUR JOINT History.

IT IS UN-AMERICAN.

the difference and divide cannot be more basic than that.

you/we cannot give something to one citizen without first, or last, TAKING it from another citizen.

this idea, or SCAM, of 'free' stuff has got to be addressed HONESTLY.

go to an entitlement 'family' of three and tell them, times are tuff, we need to TAKE from your piece of the pie and give MORE to the 'family' of 5 or 6 or 7. or, realistically, go the 15 million entitlement 'families' and tell them that since we have 17 millions needy families AND NO MORE FUNDS, the first 15m get less to spread the 'charity' to the new 2m!!

no body even suggests that concept of 'sharing', do they?

therein lies the TRUE falsitity of the ENTIRE FG as charity premise: pretty soon, the FG/govt runs OUT OF DONORS!

Not all of the evidence or facts of which we are aware was permissible in court, but that doesn't mean we aren't aware of it. If you listened to the tapes and read the interview transcripts and gave credence to the voice analysts (you know, the same folks the government used to authenticate Osama Bin Laden and others' voices), you didn't necessarily reach the same conclusion the jury did. But, the public knows just as they knew Zimmerman's history that didn't come into play in the courtroom. I should say most of the public knows. You may be the exception.

You have rich greed and you have poor greed. Then you have the middle class who are thankful for their lot in life and actually get what it is to live in the USA.

I am beginning to see where several posters that you referenced as being people who are unwilling to give of themselves but want others to be understanding and giving towards others. Life does not work that way and neither does the virtues of the constitution and the bill of rights. Unfortunately we have that kind of mindset in the House of Congress as well as in society. Some actually think the FG is elected into office to do their thinking instead of representing us. I suppose those who believe there are things that come free in life have no problems letting others do the thinking for them. I think some of the posters here insist on others accepting their ideology. If you don't, you are labeled an idiot, a moron, a drunk, clueless, liar and the list keeps growing like the FG.

The changes are coming about personal interest groups all of which are minority and they are using bigotry and racism to further their agenda. The growth of FG needs to be stopped if there is to be any hope for the survival of our country and the futures of the next generations to come.

People need to be adapting to our constitution, bill of rights which is our culture if they want to come here. They need to leave their racism, bigotry and prejudices in their country and stop trying to change our ways and our expectations of them and those that are Americans of minority status need to do the same. This self pity and crying many rivers needs to come to a halt.
