Yeah, I caught that too. We are supposed to feel sorry for someone who chooses to buck the current laws but mentioning having an autistic child is nothing more than a "sob story". I disagree with his position on that also.

What's the matter, too many govt handouts.
Furthermore, you don't tell anybody to "grow up" on a public forum.
I suggest you follow your own advice.
But first you need to assimilate. HAHAHA.
I don't receive "government handouts," and I was never spoiled.

I can tell anyone I please "to grow up" if I so choose.

I suggest you stop trying to control what I post. Oh yeah, and grow the hell up. Is that better? Hahhahaha!

Look Jaxxon! My autistic child is going on 26 Years old so my effing sob stories are older than your abnormal marriage. Things are better today. I've grown and society is a bit more understanding but there are things that I have to do to prepare for my death to ensure my will is carried out.
I've been in a mixed race marriage for over thirty years and there are still people with personal biases against me. I've accepted that and learned how to deal with it over time.
You act as if the entire world should get down on their knees and suck your ass. The world doesn't work that way JAXXON. You will have to learn how to accept the world as it is and go on with your life after the supreme court sends DOMA back to the lower courts.
The world is not ready to recognize same sex marriage in the same light as one man and one woman marriage. If DOMA is overturned and all fifty states are forced to recognize marriage certificates issued by the ten or so states that profit off of homosexual marriages there will be overwhelming support for a constitutional amendment that will outlaw gay marriage altogether.
Just curious, but why do feel so threatened by gay marriage?

German interior minister concerned by rise in right-wing crime

The danger of right-wing violence has received heightened attention in Germany since November 2011, when two members of the self-styled neo-Nazi group National Socialist Underground were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in the eastern city of Zwickau.

Gay Population Statistics

How Many Gay People Are There?

How many gay people are there in the United States?

The Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, a sexual orientation law and public policy think tank, estimates that 9 million (about 3.8%) of Americans identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (2011). The institute also found that bisexuals make up 1.8% of the population, while 1.7% are gay or lesbian. Transgender adults make up 0.3% of the population.

Why Politicians Are Sensitive to Public Opinion on Same-Sex Marriage, Immigration and Guns, but Not on the Economy

Perhaps because the former issues don’t threaten big money in America. But any tinkering with taxes or regulations sets off alarm bells in our nation’s finely-appointed dining rooms and board rooms – alarm bells that, in turn, set off promises of (or threats to withhold) large wads of campaign cash in the next election.

Just curious? Why do you feel the need to condemn opposing viewpoints with hateful slurs and rhetorical questions?

You and I agree on nearly every issue and when I agree with you, you are so kind and accepting. But, when I am opposed to an issue that you support, you are quick at tossing insults followed with a question that is as rhetorical as the one you tossed out here.

Threatened? I'm not the one who will be threatened. It will be the homosexuals that you seem to care so much about that will be in mortal danger.

I have stated in the past that I have a lot of experience with people of differing racial and ethnic backgrounds. This issue is not simply about a persons right to be left alone. This is about forcing acceptance down the throats of a biased world.

What? "hateful slurs" and "rhetorical questions?"

You're joking, right? I asked a legitimate question. Wasn't it you who just last night asked a poster if her parents had considered "murder suicide?" So, let's not cast stones, DP.

The homosexuals "will be in mortal danger?" How so?

Homosexuals have been in danger long before the issue of gay marriage ever arose. They've been taunted, tormented, murdered, driven to suicide.

I don't see anyone trying to force anything down anyone's throats. I see a group of people (gay people) who simply want equal protection and rights under the laws that are supposed to be for everyone regardless of race, creed, color, age, gender, handicap.

I find your attitudes both defensive and offensive, but I wasn't insulting. I just don't understand your position, and I sensed you felt threatened or some principle of yours was being threatened.

It's not as if gay people can pro-create and they're going to take over the world. LOL!

Quite frankly, I found the whole controversy ludicrous and it could be made so much simpler by just allowing to gay people to legally marry. What's the big deal, and just who does that harm?

But I know there are people who object to wheelchair ramps and handicap parking also.

There will always be something or someone to b*tch about it seems.

How does a same sex couple who want to be legally married hurt anyone in the heterosexual community?

If you have nothing to fear, then why are people so fearful?

People are still going to be gay and they're still going to live as lovers, partners, married, whatever regardless. I guess it's better if they're simply hidden in the shadows of bigotry, fear and hatred, and maybe they'll just go away, or somehow homosexuality will go out of fashion, and we can forget about it altogether.

Ain't gonna happen, folks. Too many politicians coming out, and even some of their children, friends and other relatives are gay.

Wait until it's one of your own then we'll see what you think. Just like the woman who's son committed suicide because his mother disowned him and was sure he was going to hell for being a homosexual.

Oh well, I see where this is going.

Some people will never agree on some things and just have to accept that.

I wonder if women are more open to gay marriage than men are? I also thought women in general were more accepting of gays than straight males were.

Still think there's a feeling of being threatened and the straight male is losing his grip on a great many things.

"Why do you feel the need to condemn opposing viewpoints with hateful slurs and rhetorical questions?"

This is interesting. I know for myself, I condemn your "viewpoint" as you call it for the same reason that you have so condemned racism on these threads so vehemently in the past, because it's hate and discrimination and it's wrong.

What is the premise for yours and other's rejection of homosexuality and their want to marry who they love?

Homosexuality is not something a person can change. They are citizens, they hurt no one by being who they are, and they are human beings, which is an obvious point but an important one.

Why are you opposed to homosexuals being included as equals in society?

Why?

The bottom line is, as with other hate towards other minorities your fear of "pandora's" box is not enough reason to continue to allow discrimination against American citizens based on a dislike of their lifestyle.

In what you call your "viewpoint" you are standing in judgment of whether another citizen can marry who they love and call it marriage.

Imagine if someone told you, you couldn't marry your wife because they didn't approve of you mixing with her race? It was once "abnormal" to do marry who you did too.

It's the same thing. It's hate DP and nothing less.

Marriage existed before Christianity. It is considered a religious rite by some, but not all. It was, and still is in some places, a contract in which two families come together in a sort of business deal, either to sell a daughter in order to gain a son, or to buy a daughter in order to grow a family. In other words, your definition of marriage is not a universal one.
It has been pointed out here already that gay people are included in 'We the People'. It's time they were allowed the rights that are afforded them under the Constitution. This will not diminish or take away from your marriage, or take away from the survivorship rights of a grown autistic son. It has NOTHING to do with 'in your face' or greed.
You and Don't Panic have shared you are in mixed marriages. You do realize that mixed marriages were once considered "abnormal", don't you? I'm really surprised that either one of you would perpetuate the prejudice that you both must have faced.
But I guess if it doesn't affect you personally, it doesn't matter.
