<quoted text>You have extremes from both sides. Extremism has always been a bad thing. I happen to be a moderate Republican....something that I heard a Republican Congressman say doesn't need to be in their party or something along that line. People need to stop listening to those extreme voices so we can find consensus on our problems. We need to get the extremists out of our policy making. jmo
not that long ago, conservative meant sticking to the printed words of the Const/liberal meant interpreting them.

now,'extreme' is sticking by the Const,'moderate' is old liberal and lib is Progressive (which does not even believe in the Const NOR ITS LIMITING ROLE OR BUILT-IN LIMITATIONS!).

therein lies the 'great divide'. your definitions are made by the Progressives... have been evolving for decades.... and supported by the Mass Media (once dominated by mods/libs and now Progressives).

your attitude is the DESIRED ATTITUDE.... for the Progressive 'transformation' from a Const'l Republic to an easier manipulated democracy (or popularity contest).

don't react... think about what I just posted first. think of all of the wrong FG policies we just can't seem to get rid of o even modify... NO MATTER WHO'S IN CHARGE.

heck, just look at the New Math used to calculate the Un-employment rate. less than 70% of the Labor Force is being used. the diff is MUCH more than 7.6%!!!

one of us has surely mis-interpretated DP's post about survivorship.
I thought he ended with the point that taxes/etc COULD be avoided by securing the RIGHT legal agreements prior to death.
I will wait for him to clarify...
in the mean time, YOU made the statement, you give the example of what YOU say cannot be so covered... by the RIGHT legal docs.
my research did not turn up ANY such thing.
simply saying that if the right docs are bot filled-out is NOT the same as saying NOTHING will prevent such penalties.
some penalties apply even to married couples... if their deceased spouse had assets NOT recognized as martial assets. different set of FACTS.
maybe you should chose your words better?
it is NOT my job to either do your research or just take your word for something.... or any one elses.
I honestly thought DP's post supported MINE....
The legal documents in question are only about inheriting the property.

Joint ownership with survivorship simply means that the survivor will inherit the property. Their right to own the property can't be contested the way it could if it was simply willed to them, but their are still taxes to be paid.

As a matter of fact, with a married same-sex couple, simply putting the name of one of the partners on the property can trigger gift taxes unless both partners can prove that they contributed 50% toward ownership.

I'm under no delusions that DP was trying to support what I was saying, but his post does point out what I was trying to get across to you.

You can protect your right to inherit the property, but for a legally married-same sex couple it does not do away with the tax liability.

Here's the link to his post if you want to look at it again.

CNN BREAKING NEWS America Under Attack:

America Under Attack: FBI and State Police Cordon Off Debris Area Six to Eight Miles from Crater Where Plane Went Down
Aired September 13, 2001 - 11:43 ET /

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Yes, we want to take our viewers live to Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Our Brian Cabell is standing by. This of course is the site where United Airlines flight 93 crashed on its way from Newark to San Francisco, crashed on Tuesday, and I understand, in this investigation, there's some breaking news.

Brian, what can you tell us?

BRIAN CABELL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Daryn, in the last hour or so, the FBI and the state police here have confirmed that have they cordoned off a second area about six to eight miles away from the crater here where plane went down. This is apparently another debris site, which raises a number of questions. Why would debris from the plane -- and they identified it specifically as being from this plane -- why would debris be located 6 miles away. Could it have blown that far away. It seems highly unlikely. Almost all the debris found at this site is within 100 yards, 200 yards, so it raises some question. We don't want to overspeculate of course. But there were some cell phone callers, one cell phone caller in particular, who said saw a bomb, or something that looked like a bomb with one of the hijackers. Also, the man who took over the plane apparently announced at one point, he had -- there was a bomb on board the plane.

Again, we don't want to speculate, we don't want to jump to conclusions. But what we do know is that there's a site about half mile behind me, where the plane went down, where most of the debris is, and then about six miles away up by a lake, there is another area that's been cordoned off, and state police and the FBI have said definitely there is debris from the plane located there. We have a crew on the way right now. We should have pictures of that a little bit later on.

The nation’s unemployment rate fell this morning to 7.6%. That’s good news…right?

Home prices are rising smartly around the country. That’s good news…right?

Wrong…on both counts.

Unemployment is only lower because there are fewer workers in the labor force.

Single-family home prices are only higher because institutional investors are buying up distressed properties, one at a time and in bulk, as fast as their flash cash can fly.

The falling unemployment rate is easy to see through. With only 88,000 jobs added in March, where estimates called for 200,000 new jobs, the ranks of the unemployed only decreased because the number of people in the total labor force decreased.

Think Only the Rich Will Pay More Taxes? You're Wrong

For a single person making $60,000 per year who's paid bi-weekly, gross income in a paycheck is $2,307.69.

In December, you would have had to subtract from that federal withholding taxes of $403. 56. FICA taxes were $96.93. Medicare was $33.46. State withholding for a person living in Maryland was $177.35.

That gives the taxpayer net pay in one check in December of $1,596.39.

So what happens this month?

Gross pay is the same, as are the Medicare and state taxes. But FICA taxes go up sharply – to $143.08. That's a $46.15 bite from the political decision to allow the payroll tax cut to expire.
