<quoted text>Must I point out to you that candidates for office have policies and plans? Do you understand that the winner of an election has been provided a mandate by the voters to pursue the direction he/she laid out in advance of winning election? If we have no choice, why would we have two parties and more as well as options as to direction. If there is only one "right" and everything else is "wrong", why not just live under a dictatorship or a monarchy?
What's with the garbage about popularity and rock stars? This is about an election, a choice of directions, and the decision as to which path to pursue based on the wills of the majority of voters who posted a win for the President.
No, he has no "mandate". He barely won. He won with a smaller margin than he did the first time. Besides, democracy is not kleptocracy. You don't just get together, win a few elections and then vote to steal people's stuff.

He needs to be meeting with Congress and working out a deal, just like every other President in history has, including those who actually won over-whelming victories so they could plausibly claim a "mandate".

You do realize that "mandate" is a concept, not an actual legal position? There's absolutely NOTHING in the Constitution or any other law or regulation that says "once you achieve 'mandate' status, the executive may over-ride the legislature on each & every point".

So what you are REALLY claiming is that Obama is now a dictator empowered with special rights no other past President has ever had. Which is really laughable, but to be expected from a radical President and his fanatical proto-fascist followers.

Thanks for unwittingly comparing Obama to a dictator!

You obviously have no clue how a REPRESENTATIVE democracy works or why it was set up that way in the first place. The reason there is no such thing as a "mandate" in our laws is to PREVENT a dictatorship. Everyone has a say in what happens, including those who (for the moment) "lost".

It's NOT a winner take all deal. If it is, then we need to just have a civil war. Your side can fight for dictatorship by popular mandate, my side will fight for representative democracy in which everyone has some sort of say, even if a diminished one based on vote size. I don't think most people voted to make Obama dictator, so our ranks would swell as your dwindled.

Oppseee! Your far-left radicalism is showing!

I only rarely cut & paste, and that's when I find something I couldn't have said better myself. You and your pals do it all day long. Have you no thought of your own? Oh, sorry, your a liberal. By definition you have no thoughts of your own. My bad.

Hmm... do you all follow that "petition" crap at the White House? First the Secession stuff... now White Genocide! LOL.

I think everyone should sign them. If you agree, well all the better. If you think they are stupid... sign them anyway. I'd love to see Obama's response, for shits & giggles if nothing else!

And Lincoln was the FIRST Republican President just after the party was newly-formed. Hardly makes him so standard bearer for the Republican Party of today, but try and get that through to the thick-headed frightwingers.
Just like trying to use historical fact to convince them that this country was NOT founded on Christian principles.
When you've finished re-fighting the Civil War and gotten past the freeing of the American slaves 160 years ago, let us know. Then we can move out of the 19th centuruy and on to the 20th century where attempts to institute socialism resulted in approximately ten times more non-black slaves (mostly Jews, slavs, Russian & Chinese peasants) and 100 times more murders, than did our horrible experience with black slavery.

There are more white & Asian people still alive TODAY who have actually BEEN slaves than the number of black slaves in the US at its zenith. This was more recent and all caused by attempts to bring some form of liberal la-la land into existence. There's even one slave country still going strong (North Korea), where a black man just visited and hugged the slave-master and called him a life-long friend (I happen to think he just did it without knowing about the slavery.)

Furthermore, the entire point of most of socialism's slavery was not to extract work (which is indeed horrible), but to MURDER their victims.

Let's talk about that, libs! Unless you want to go back to explaining how Obama's non-existent "mandate" gives him dictatorial powers.

Well, if you take an infinite number of monkeys typing on an infinite number of keyboards, one of them will eventually type out the Democrat platform. In your attempt to portray yourself as more intelligent than we all know you to really be. you have completely missed the entire point of the polls.
The polls aren't just an indication of "popularity" but also of job approval.
Comparing Hitler and the events pre-World War 2, to current times, is not a simple elementary comparison like you have attempted to do.
Hitler, controlled the media entirely and used propaganda to brainwash the German people.
If this was the case today, your loud mouth ranting about the president would be silenced. All of the nutty right wing media sites in operation would have already been shut down and all involves put into camps or worse executed as traitors. This is not happening. People are still free to see and choose who and what they are voting for with access to all the information available.
We have the internet now. We have television media. We are not in 1942 where people were lucky to see a newspaper.
In other words, your comparison is invalid. Apples and Oranges.
In these days and times, compared to then, a voter is more informed, free, and capable to decide on what's best for him or her.
When all added up, the majority is what it is, in essence a sequential collection of individuals' participating in decision making. Collectively the more individuals(the majority) that weigh the information and arrive in agreement to a logical conclusion the greater the chance of that conclusion being correct or "right".
In Germany Hitler era, the information given to the German people to base their decisions on was manipulated, propagandized, and structured to achieve what Hitler wanted them to believe therefore contaminating the entire equation.

I wasn't making a brilliant point, but rather a simple one. There's no use trying to make liberals understand anything subtle or complicated, which your post so eloquently showed.(Thanks!)

Again: being popular is not the same as being right.

That's all it is. See? So simple even an idiot like you can understand it. I just happened to pick Hitler and Chamberlain when they were at the top of their popularity. But if you prefer other examples....

....oh, hell... a child can understand this. Provide other examples yourself, you dim-wit! I can't be bothered.

Iranian Sufis Defy Tehran Dictatorship

The historic Green movement for Iranian reform took place in June 2009. But the approaching upheaval was anticipated on February 21, 2009, when tens of thousands of Gonabadis came together outside the Tehran parliament to demand an end to attacks on their metaphysical movement. In the legendary Iranian city of Isfahan, on February 19, 2009, riot police assaulted with batons and tear gas Sufi devotees gathered at the wrecked tomb of the 19th-century poet Nasir Ali. The day before, the tomb had been looted and demolished by local government functionaries using bulldozers. The Shia Sufi meeting house or “husseiniya” next to the mausoleum was destroyed at the same time. The Nasir Ali tomb was a protected heritage site used, since 2002, by the Sufis.

A 22-carat dictator: Robert Mugabe has gold coins minted to celebrate his 89th birthday in poverty-stricken Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is one of the poorest country's on Earth, but clearly despot Robert Mugabe doesn't seem to care on his 89th birthday.
The president celebrated it by immortalising himself in freshly minted gold coins and held a lavish party with a giant cake.

Seoul’s “Blood Alliance” with Washington: Former Dictator’s Daughter takes over South Korean Presidency

The corporate elite is in no position to offer concessions to the working class. Economic growth slowed rapidly to just 2 percent last year, due to the deepening global slump. Moreover, Japan’s aggressive policy of driving down the value of the yen has undercut South Korean auto and electronics exports in global markets.

Uh, don't look now, nitwit but there is NO slavery in America today. And when it did exist, it had nothing to do with socialism, so your weak and very feeble attempt to link liberals/socialism to any form of slavery is not only ludicrous, it's downright ignorant and dishonest.

Obama's "non-existent mandate" to do what? He doesn't claim any "dictatorial powers." That's in your hateful, prejudicial and paranoid mind.

You're a nut job. No question.

Turkish opposition leader condemns 'dictator' Erdogan

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, chairman of the Republican People's party, warns that PM is driving Turkey towards constitutional 'disaster'

"When the press is not free, the people are not free," he said. "Whether this is a healthy environment in which to frame a new constitution is a matter I leave to you to decide."
