What can I do to change my child's behavior?
Children tend to continue a behavior when it is rewarded and stop a behavior when it is ignored. Consistency in your reaction to a behavior is important because rewarding and punishing the same behavior at different times confuses your child. When you think your child's behavior might be a problem, you have 3 choices:
Decide that the behavior is not a problem because it's appropriate to the child's age and stage of development.
Attempt to stop the behavior, either by ignoring it or by punishing it.
Introduce a new behavior that you prefer and reinforce it by rewarding your child.
How do I stop misbehavior?
The best way to stop unwanted behavior is to ignore it. This way works best over a period of time. When you want the behavior to stop immediately, you can use the time-out method.

It's good to see someone standing up for their values. More of us need to do it.
Seven Tips to Help Kids Stand Up for Their Moral Beliefs
1. Know What You Stand for So Your Kid Knows.
We might as well call the close of America’s twentieth century the “Decade of Moral Erosion.” Think about it: The Internet became scarier; TV featured more casual sex and vulgarity; video games became even cruder; music lyrics were ruder; movies were often steamier and always more violent. And if that isn’t enough, data shows peer pressure became even fiercer. A recent Time/Nickelodeon survey of 991 kids ages nine to fourteen revealed some troubling facts: 36 percent of the middle schoolers surveyed feel the pressure from peers to smoke marijuana; 40 percent feel pressure to have sex; 36 percent feel pressure to shoplift; and four out of 10 sixth graders feel pressure to drink.

Moral beliefs? You mean like this:

5. David Cote, Honeywell Corporation

Over the last three years, Honeywell received more than $2.7 billion in federal defense contracts and reported more than $2.5 billion in U.S. pre-tax profits. And yet thanks to corporate deductions, tax subsidies, and loopholes, Honeywell has claimed $377 million in federal tax refunds during this period.

Honeywell CEO David Cote has been a fixture at Congressional hearings calling for a territorial tax system for corporations. He is also Vice-Chair of the Business Roundtable, a club for big business CEOs that has called for an extension of all the Bush tax cuts, including those for millionaires and billionaires, as well as the tax cuts on unearned income from capital gains and dividends. These combined measures would add $1.5 trillion to the debt over the next ten years.

How 'bout them moral values?

I've seen enough from your comments, along with some others on here. Do you even know what profane defines? Yours and others use of obscenities is all over this forum. Kindly refrain, please.
Profane:
1
: to treat (something sacred) with abuse, irreverence, or contempt : desecrate
2
: to debase by a wrong, unworthy, or vulgar use
— pro·fan·er noun

..........
Contempt for your fellow Americans is blatant in the following:

6. Randall Stephenson, AT&T

AT&T is another firm that paid its CEO more last year than they paid in federal corporate income taxes. CEO Randall Stephenson made $18.7 million , while the firm enjoyed a $420 million refund from Uncle Sam.

AT&T is a major beneficiary of “accelerated depreciation” rules that allow companies to turbo-charge tax deductions in the early years of the life of an asset. A 2009 accelerated depreciation rule saved the company $5.2 billion on their 2011 taxes, according to the firm’s 10-K report. Although touted as a way to jumpstart spending in a downturn, such tax breaks often result in taxpayers bearing a substantial portion of the cost of investments firms would’ve made anyway.

<quoted text>What does that have to do with a crusade of hate under the guise of religion? I really couldn't care less about your take on the SPLC because, as you must certainly know, it doesn't have anything to do about your concern about persecution. Actually, it's your guy you were so indignant about who is persecuting gays and proselytizing his religious perspectives. There's no place for that crap in the public schools. You lose - again.
given that, what, 50-70% of OUR entire population claims to be some sort of CHRISTIAN, that gays are NOT publicaly flogged or worse is a good thing.

after all, if one actually did MORE than merely 'play' at being whichever branch of the Christian faith they choose AND they therefore truly believed what THEIR Holy Book(s) said AND they practiced said teachings, YOU, as a woman, be in deep do-do!

but, then, THAT is our society's real problem, isn't it? almost everybody playing mere lip-service to such lofty ideals!

but, then, when someone DOES speak ot loud their personally held beliefs (religious or otherwise), they are ridiculed, intimidated, castigated and otherwise attacked un-mercilessly. for evidence, scan a few dozen or less of this past weeks (days!) posts. a fine poster calling themself Pok-something-or-another just posted a very disparaging remark about 1/3 of the WORLD'S population.

or, simply look at how any of the devout,'conservative', Christian candidates from a certain demagogued political party were portrayed this last election cycle. their political messages certainly did get lost, intentionally, didn't they?

proving YET again, that degrading one's opponents' personal views and NOT explaining your political ones, WINS ELECTIONS. especially National elections.

let me close by saying that, even tho YOU go along with ours being a democracy, the view of the majority must NOT be taught in THEIR public schools BUT that the view of the minority MUST.... especially the view from/of those routinely NOT producing children to be educated!!... is BS.

I submit NEITHER POV should be taught as neither have any thing to do with the three R's! only the Progressives have turned our public ed system into a hotbed of indoctrination... for THEIR purposes.

but, then, I am only expressing 'conservative', old-fashioned views about pub ed....

Every man, woman and child in America was indebted to make whole again the very institutions whose failures should have let them sustain the failure. Instead, we failed our own to make the rich failures rich again and to be repaid with many of them moving their money away from this economy and stimulating growth here onshore to put our own back to WORK for a living. They deprived us of jobs and tax contributions as well.

I fear that plutocratic rule, under which we are already operating will result in Oligarchy. I'm not worried about Socialism. I'll leave that to you to concern yourself about. I'm worried about the demise of the middle class and the dearth of opportunity to move from one class to another through one's own efforts. I worry about a society where your birth status defines you for life. Call that whatever you want to call it, but I don't see a place where your birth station defines you for life as being America, at least the one in which I grew up or expected would be there for my children and theirs.

To his credit, this President has articulated what nobody wanted to say about it and made preserving a middle class his mission this term. I have no doubt that this perspective is what cost him the financial support of so many corporate donors this time. Can he overcome the pressure and the influential power brokers that dominate our Congress and our legislation? I don't know. I wish him well.

Media blackout: Oregon mall shooter was stopped by an armed citizen

**********

The shooter, Jacob Tyler Roberts, was confronted with an armed citizen, at which time he ran away and shot himself. By the time police arrived on the scene, Roberts was already dead.

That armed man was 22-year-old Nick Meli, who was at the mall shopping with a young woman who was babysitting her friend's baby.

Not only has the national media refused to acknowledge this aspect of the deadly event, but law enforcement has as well.

Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts held a press conference in which he credited local police officers and deputies with ending the rampage, never mentioning Meli's actions.

Sheriff Roberts said: "I'm really proud of all the different agencies that came together to really step up and put their lives on the line," to "basically hunt down this guy in the mall."

Now, remember, the shooter was already dead when police arrived on the scene.

Of course, the Obamamedia is in full support of even harsher gun control laws and it should come as no surprise that they would suppress any story which provides proof that lawfully armed citizens do prevent crimes and save lives.

4. Brian T. Moynihan, Bank of America
After a decade of risky and reckless mortgage lending, Bank of America survived the 2008 financial crash with the help of a $45 billion bailout. Today, Bank of America sits on $128 billion in cash —$18 billion of it is overseas —and much of that is sitting in the company’s 115 tax haven subsidiaries .
Last year, after investors saw their stock price decline 58 percent and 30,000 Bank of America employees lost their jobs to layoffs, CEO Brian Moynihan saw his compensation quadruple to more than $8 million. His predecessor, Ken Lewis, raked in more than $50 million in the two years before the housing bubble that Bank of America had help inflate burst in 2008.
..........
So, if I have this right, every man woman and child in America agreed to chip in for their share of $45 BILLION to help 'em out and to make sure Mr. Moynihan's compensation tripled after they had screwed us over, and they then further repaid the favor by parking $18 BILLION offshore in a tax haven! Very cute and clever, Mr. Moynihan, you friggin' creep.
Please note: I didn't say Bush at all until right now.
