Business as usual
Bush's strong support of the Dubai ports deal isn't so surprising in light of his family's many financial ties to Arab sheikdoms.
By Joe Conason / Feb. 24, 2006 http://tinyurl.com/h9yah
The president's shift in tone is as remarkable as his threat to use his first veto in five years to protect the Dubai deal in the face of bipartisan congressional opposition.

But Bush's passionate defense of the United Arab Emirates and the ports deal inevitably raises questions -- not only about the due diligence of his administration in this instance but about his and his family's long-standing ties to the Persian Gulf sheikdoms, and specifically to the UAE's rulers. His insinuation that skepticism is equivalent to bigotry cannot deflect such concerns, which first arose in the months after the 9/11 attacks.

By now, everyone paying attention to the furor over the Dubai ports deal should be aware of the UAE's mixed record with regard to terror and global security. The Emirates' ruling families formerly maintained close relationships with the Taliban and Osama bin Laden, whose hunting camps in Afghanistan they frequented; two of the 20 hijackers in the 9/11 plot were UAE nationals who used safe houses and banks in Dubai; and the A.Q. Khan nuclear smuggling network also used facilities there to mask its operations. Since 9/11, however, the Emirates have cooperated with U.S. operations against al-Qaida, and their state-owned corporations have eagerly participated in American attempts to improve transportation security.

What seems worrisome even to some who might ultimately accept the Dubai ports deal is the "casual attitude" of the Bush administration in vetting the company, as Sen. Carl Levin put it. Considering the history of Bush entanglement with the oil despots of the Gulf, that lax indulgence was bad policy and worse politics.

Bush Won't Reveal Saudi 9/11 Info
Saudi Minister Calls Alleged Terror Link 'An Outrage'
July 29, 2003 http://tinyurl.com/39gg3m
(CBS/AP) President Bush refused on Tuesday to release a congressional report alleging possible links between Saudi Arabian officials and the Sept. 11 hijackers. The White House sought to question a Saudi citizen who befriended two of the hijackers.
Bush said he could not comply with a request by the Saudi foreign minister for a chance to clear the Arab kingdom's name because publication of the report could hurt U.S. intelligence operations.
After the report was released last Thursday, Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar bin Sultan issued a statement saying that "28 blanked-out pages are being used by some to malign our country and our people."

(rolls eyes)... I'm not going to take that to the bank. You've already had one of whom we are aware. You had a "live-in" who managed to escape with her grandfather's 22 rifle which you coveted even after she was gone and continued to kick yourself in the hinnie because you didn't manage to obtain it before she got away. Now, your married to one who "can't keep her hands off me" although you're always around at night. She's either a "he" or she's that rare female who is a morning person;-) LOL Know what I mean? Sure you do. So, obviously, she's either able to keep her hands off you with no difficulty or you're already bored with each other.

I doubt that you're very entrepreneurial, but this old dude reminds me of you in terms of his delusions. I urge you to leave Topix and get busy making a helluva lot of money:

I am glad you're not a Democrat but jumping over to the Republicans is way worse IMO.
Obama and Bill Clinton destroyed Liberalism / Progressives.
Obamacare is a Republican healthcare plan which all Liberals and all Progressives did not want.
We wanted Single Payer ( Medicare for all Americans ) or even a Public Option to complete with Big Pharma and Big HMOs to lower the cost.
Bill Clinton and all rightwing Speaker Newt Gingrich Republicans destroyed America by passing NAFTA, Gramm/Leach/Bliley, 1996 Telecommunications act, and Iraq Liberation.
12 years of Reagan and Daddy Bush bloated and increased the size of government with the largest deficits in history.
8 years of Bush and Cheney bloated and increased the size of government with the largest deficits in history.
6 out of 8 years Bush and Cheney had a Republican House and a Republican Senate.

Nader Was Right: Liberals are Going Nowhere With Obama
Aug 10, 2009 / http://tinyurl.com/kotjan
The American empire has not altered under Barack Obama. It kills as brutally and indiscriminately in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as it did under George W. Bush. It steals from the U.S. treasury to enrich the corporate elite as rapaciously. It will not give us universal health care, abolish the Bush secrecy laws, end torture or “extraordinary rendition,” restore habeas corpus or halt the warrantless wiretapping and monitoring of citizens. It will not push through significant environmental reform, regulate Wall Street or end our relationship with private contractors that provide mercenary armies to fight our imperial wars and produce useless and costly weapons systems.

Did you listen to the Ralph Nader interview on the night of Obama's landslide victory in 2008?

Obama even won in 10 Bush Republican Red States.

Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Florida, Iowa, Ohio, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Virginia, and Indiana.

Every word of Ralph has materialized against Obama and his corrupt corporate centrist Democrats.

It is obvious that both major political parties make it very hard for an Independent or any other third party to compete with them in collusion with corrupt corporate mainstream media and corrupt corporate rightwing media.

This is the reason you could not register as an Independent in your State.

In a word, no.

I don't expect much in the form of morality, integrity or character from him. He clearly proves himself to be a real lowlife with his frequent the use of accusations of child molestation to attack posters he doesn't like. He's a lowlife.

It was funny enough that he announced his I.Q of "119" with such brazen bravado almost as if he didn't really realize that that number was not all that high.lol

After seeing him go through several different Topix accounts it's now painfully obvious to everyone that he fudged the numbers quite a bit.

I'd have to disagree. I've seen the signs and the things Tea Partiers say at their rallies and it is the farthest thing from American values and principles. Their values and principles are closer kin to the Klan than they are to America. IMHO

8 Reasons the IQ is meaningless.

The first standardized attempt to measure the human’s mental capacity was courtesy of Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon, who formulated a test to measure verbal ability. Binet and Simon only wanted to use the test to find those children who suffered from mental retardation. This experiment was furthered by William Stern in 1912 to compare a child’s mental age with his or her chronological age. Stern coined the term “intelligence quotient.” The score is calculated by dividing the mental age by the chronological age, then multiplying the quotient by 100. If a child of 10 years old has a mental age of 5, his IQ is 50. Determining his mental age is the difficult part.

Once an average person reaches the age of 15 or so, the IQ test is no longer important, since the mental age has reached maturity. But an average child of 5 should have a mental age of 5. If that child has a mental age of 1, he has a below-average IQ. The two most popular tests used today are the Weschler and the Standford-Binet. On the latter, Albert Einstein (who will make quite a few appearances in this list) scored a now famous 186 as a child. On the former, the same score registers as a 160. The problem with either number is that the tests were not originally conceived for the purpose of scoring this high.

Why “Operation American Spring” Could Be The Death Of America…

Patriots from coast to coast should soundly reject Operation American Spring for exactly what it is
http://www.westernjournalism.com/operation-am...
In the Federalist Papers, Publius warned against exactly what OAS is, a faction:“…a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adverse to the rights of other citizens…”(Federalist Paper No. 10).

The Founders took great pains to create a government that would prevent the changeable passions of a group in frenzy from imposing their will on the rest of the country.
