Let immigration proposals stand individually

Once upon a time, Congress stood for America and just laws. Now the White House, assorted troublemakers or lawmakers proclaim a group of solutions, i.e. environment, guns, immigration and health to name a few, label them comprehensive reforms and liberals line up to write new laws.

Over the years congress has made a habit creating bills that are loaded with special interest clauses to reward those who vote for the bill. In the end the result is a costly piece of legislation that does not do what was intended or at least what we were told they were intended to do. I agree that any immigration reform should be done slowly one issue at a time so the effects can be measured and controlled. Let's start with the most important parts first. The number one priority should be to create laws that deport illegal aliens who have been convicted of crimes as quickly as possible with no second chance. Even if the crime is not a "serious felony". One DUI should get you deported even if you are here legally. The same is true for fraud, tax evasion, shoplifting etc. The next step should be to change birthright policies to exclude anybody who is born to a foreign national who does not have at least permanent resident status.
