"Conservative activists shifting right" is what the headline should have read, according to the actual article. Voters in general really aren't shifting any more right than they already were. We're still looking at 20% of the population being extremely conservative, and they're not electing anyone on their own.

Here's hoping the GOP continues to believe they need to "shift to the right" to get elected. How'd that work for Romney last time around, Repubbies?:)

This is why Republicans will continue to be doomed to defeat unless they resolve the conflict between what they need to say to win the nomination, and what they need to say to get elected President. By the time Romney had won the nomination, it was a poisoned gift - all Obama had to do (once he found his backbone after the first debate) was keep reminding people of what Romney actually SAID, and that convinced the voters he was too nutty to govern.

Twenty-percenters aren't electing anyone, and the independents aren't voting for the crazy right. That's about how it sorts out, Republicans.

Americans MUST come to terms with the fact that we aren't leaving our children and grand children much hope for a bright future. America spoke in a clear voice last November. They said our country sucks and must be destroyed to be reborn as a collectivist dump ruled by egomanical Orwellian Elites.

Ah, the dumbass left...making up their own headlines. Hilarious...as usual

Many people are shifting right due to the economic failures of burrack and the dem congress from 2006-2010 that has left the country with massive debt, unemployment and the largest tax increase in history.

Keep your ear to the ground, Walking Donkey. Many elephants coming. LMAO

If the future looks like what the dems did to Detroit, California and other bankrupt cities and blue states...we'd prefer another direction. Thanks,

I didn't make up any headlines, I merely indicated what this one SHOULD have been. Rebut my statements if you can.

Your economic statements are absurdly wrong, AGAIN. Mr. Obama didn't cause the worst recession in America since the Depression.

He just hasn't done anything to end it while making sure that wages stay on the decline. Showing once again the differance between Democrats and Republicans is only that one has a (D) and the other an (R) after their names on the ballot.

You said the headlines...."should read" Go back to your woods, boy.

The democrats deliberately pushed the core of the credit crisis, and ignored warnings that things were being done by Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae that would be very harmful to our economy, by the Bush administration, and even John McCain. The democrats buddies in Freddy Mac and Fannie May (powerful advisers in the Obama campaign and huge democrat contributors to Obama, Frank, Dodd, Waters, and Reid among other democrats started out on a dangerous course, lied to investors about the status of the investment, and caused the credit crisis and the bringing down of banks and insurance companies because of those investments becoming worthless as collateral, making those institutions illiquid and thus unable to legally do business ...

Bush did not pass any policy or make any order that caused the recession...it was a comedy of social entitlements that began under LBJ's great society..Jimmy carters pushing for more housing loans from banks, and Clinton's extending these policies and bullshitting the country about his economy. The demorats destroyed the root of our economy by obstructing access to any economical fuel sources including oil, natural gas, nuclear energy, hydro electric, clean coal and anything else that could sustain a healthy economy. Fuel is the very core of our economy and they crushed it. The energy states are now booming...your's is falling...

Take a look around...you full of it.

The fraud and extortion perpetrated on NY and CA families due to "Pension Spiking" which Democrats traded the Unions for campaign support is the worst.
Parents and Grand Parents in those States MUST admit to being monsters for enabling the UnionCrats to screw the next generation.

Google: "Pension Spiking" to understand the collusion stemming from of the Devil's Partnership.

Bushie had the White House for 8 years, and the Frightwing had Congress for 6 of 'em.
They did exactly what to avoid the recession?

Well, that last part's true. But Presidents have limited abilities to just end recessions or set wages. We need to admit that corporate America is the problem here, much more than the white house.

I guess you couldn't read after all...or are too dishonest to admit you're wrong. You're certainly still wrong about the economic situation, but willing to blame me for...something. Who knows what, it's not like you're capable of rational argument. What does "pushed the core of the credit crisis" even MEAN? lol

After 5 year of recession it is no wonder. The country shifted left when the right failed and now we are shifting right for the same reasons. Some day maybe people will realize that neither side is looking out for the average working American.

We have been hearing of the nation shifting right for 20 years or more at least. Somehow we end up with RINOS/NEO CONS as candidates. The way Repubs are going Chairman Mao will be viable. And don't even talk about the progressive Dems.

What you've got there is a lie, basically. Or you could just call it a partisan smear of Mr. Obama. Meaningless in any case.

"Independent research supports the belief by these lawmakers that they owe their jobs to increasingly conservative activists, and that it's safer than ever to veer right on many subjects rather than seek compromise with Democrats."
