"fifteen states have exploited a loophole in the law by offering alternative criteria, such as graduation from an in-state high school, to allow illegal immigrant students to qualify for in-state tuition rates."

There is no loophole, federal law is very clear:

"Any person who ... encourages or induces an alien to ... reside ... knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such ... residence is ... in violation of law, shall be punished as provided ... for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs ... fined under title 18 ... imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both."

Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A):

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

* assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or

* encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or

* knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions."

Federal versus state rights in new farm bill
http://southwestfarmpress.com/government/fede...
The amendment paves the way for the federal government to do away with individual state (agricultural) laws that protect consumers, animals and agricultural workers, and would provide federal regulators the authority to change any state law regarding agriculture as it deems fit to change.

Opponents to the amendment charge that the last time such federally-imposed rules were adopted by Congress it created a riff between those supporting federalist ideals and those who argued for the protection of states' rights, eventually leading to a major conflict between states that divided the nation and ended in a conflict that forever scarred the history of a nation.

He may be anti-illegal but he sure is pro-prostitution.

Said Vitter, when he was caught with his pants down with a hooker, "Sob, sob, I made a mistake and God any my wife have forgiven me, sob sob".

They unmitigated gall and hypocrisy of the GOP never fails to amuse me.

That argument has already been debunked. None of the states allowing instate tuition to the DREAMers use residency as a criterion. Ergo, no violation of federal law.

In reality, people, few illegals even graduate HS. They are small number's and usually never even finish College. The freebie programs offered are taken advantage of because it gives them housing, and food. The Senator knows this but also realizes the tides are turning again in favor of stopping the wagon train we've been paying for all along. Also DC is sick of the Mexicans stomping on the doorsteps of there elite society...No one want's Mexicans in DC unless they're cleaning Hotel rooms and doing yard work.

ive pointed this out a few times to elected officials so the ones in ca are waiting on a cell if ever a real American would make a stand and arrest them.
