if they have been arrested once, they should be disqualified from any consideration. Not to mention if they have been arrested and released and missed their court date, they should be deported immediately without exceptions or consideration. I don't believe in the dream act. This is not our fault that the parents of the children who are no longer children did this to them. They now should have to live this their parent decision. Instead of call all American racists, ask your parents WHY? did you not know that one day we might get deported? We have no rights in this country, ask them.

Didn't all of them break the law when they came here ILLEGALLY? I say zero tolerance of anyone who comes here without following proper procedures. It's not like they don't know what they're doing is illegal. They just disregard our laws and do it anyway. When I travel to another country I'm expected to abide by their laws. Don't we have enough homegrown idiots who disregard our laws without importing more? My ancestors had to go through the legal process in order to start a new life here, why should the immigrants of today be any different?

The article makes the claim of 37 criminal convictions but doesn't provide the proof or even a brief explanation of these crimes.

Sounds like more bullshit from the right!!!

40% of so-called illegal aliens enter by lawful means but overstay their visa. That doesn't make them illegal. That makes them visa overstayers.

Then they are illegal "stayers". They aren't staying by legal means, are they? Still a disregard for our laws. The answer is simple, abide by the law. If I go out and drive on an expired drivers license is it legal? No. It's illegal. Showing a disregard/disrespect for the laws of the country you wish to immigrate to is not a good thing. Why would the people of that country think that you'll suddenly start respecting the law when/if you get legal access? I don't have a problem with people who want to come here, only the Native American branch on my family tree is not full of immigrants, the majority of my ancestors came here from other countries. However, if you want to come here, do it legally and meet the responsibilities that all citizens do, like paying taxes etc. Learn to speak English, I speak Spanish when I go to Mexico. Mi casa es tu casa as long as you abide by the rules, regulations, and laws of mi casa.

I'm not sure what your point is. Let me try to clarify my opinion. If a person is not a citizen of this country and does not have legal permission to be in this country from the United States Government then that person is an illegal alien. It doesn't matter if that person came here by illegal means or if they came here legally and then let their legal status expire. In either case that person is here illegally and is not a U.S. citizen. The answer is simple, abide by the laws of our country.

Put a .44 magnum hollow point through his forehead. Cheaper and so much more effective. I've a half dozen or so I don't need that I'll donate to the cause.

Blame you parents and at the same time ask them why they did this to you. Your parents should be ashamed of bringing you here illegally. Americans have no sympathy for you. Your parents knew exactly what they were doing but thought it would be easy for you, how wrong they were. Americans are sick and tired of the problem illegal immigration causes, it is time to put a stop to all this nonsense. Your parents have no respect for the laws of this country and should be deported with you. DEPORT, NO AMNESTY, MANDATORY E-VERIFY, NO ENTITLEMENTS FOR ILLEGALS!!!!

There is no such thing as "the back of the line".

What part of LEGAL immigration DO YOU NOT understand?

Opponents of illegal immigration are fond of telling foreigners to get in line before coming to the USA but what does that line really look like and how many years or decades does it take to get through. Below is a PDF diagram that shows you the complexities of doing it the legal way. It may also help you understand why many foreigners simply say to hell with it and enter illegally.

1 in ever 100 Americans are incarcerated in the USA. Simply put... not even Americans can follow the law yet you want to hold immigrants to a higher standard?

LOL!!!

Illegals are breaking a law, good way to state the obvious. That law is a civil infraction that carries a fine of $50 to $250 [first time offense], the legal equivalent of jaw walking or public littering.

8 U.S.C. 1325 : US Code - Section 1325: Improper entry by alien

So why are you frothing at the mouth about it like a rabid hyena?

You justify the illegality of this act by the fact that the law interprets it as illegal, yet you seem to ignore the fact that the penalty is also extremely mild and that the "law" you rely on to pontificate also regards this crime as insignificant. Insignificant enough for the fine to be less than a speeding ticket in some places, so miniscule that people have to be caught doing it several times for it to be prosecuted beyond a littering ticket.

Illegals caught are rarely deported, look at the statistics and most illegals caught are let go and only deported after committing another crime or sneaking in several times.

Moreover, you act as if the immigration law is written in stone, which the history of immigration in this country has proven it is not. Reagan gave amnesty to millions of illegals in the 1980s, just like our govt did for the dozens of millions of illegals who came here from Europe before 1912, both prime examples of how maleable our immigration laws are.

How about all these changes in immigration code since 1986?

1. Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens

2. Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens

3. Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994

4. Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America

5. Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti

6. Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens

7. LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens

8. 100,000 to 200,000 illegal Haitian nationals receive a 18 months of protected status.

9. 80,000 immigrants - mostly from Islamic countries - to resettle in the United States during fiscal year 2011

10. 1,000,000 illegal aliens under the age of 30 currently received a two year moratorium on deportation pending further notice.

How about the chinese exclusion act, and its eradication in the 1960s, or the changing of quota laws for immigration? These are all major changes in our immigration code and process that illustrate how the law is anything but written in stone.

You do know it was also illegal for blacks and whites to marry, asians to own property and native americans to practice their religion; and these laws were found to be incorrect and changed eventually.

My point is not that illegals should be given a free pass to come here, but that your point about illegal immigration being so wrong because the law states it as only a civil infraction is extremely incorrect.
