A lawmaker who helped negotiate a bipartisan bill to overhaul immigration predicted on Sunday that comprehensive legislation would overwhelmingly pass the Senate by July 4 while House Republicans cautioned that they would write their own version, one piece at a time.

The Senate is the worst legislative body in the history of this country. It isn't even close. Boehner is a neocon weasel as are McCain, Graham, Toomey, Flake, McConnell, Hatch and the token, Rubio, just to name a few. The House has no alternative than to defy Boehner and dismantle Schumer's idiotic bill.

Repealing the 17th Amendment will end this. Let the state legislatures vote for the Federal Senators as they used to before 1913. The state legislatures are more inclined to vote by the will of the people in their districts and be thrown out of office or kept by their actions. There is actually more representation in practically all states except the least populated in this scenario. A state rep and state senator answers to much less people then federal senator. that gives the voter more power. What is more important, it makes it harder for evil men and women who are backed by elitists to come to power. And there are evil men and women in Washington. REPEAL THE 17TH AMENDMENT!

That's interesting. Maybe while they're at it they could reduce the term to 4 years. 6 years is too long to be stuck with a POS Senator and we have 2 of them in Pennsylvania.

If Pennsylvania has say 12 million people, your vote means less in a Federal Senator election then your local State Rep election which may be a couple of hundred thousand or even less and State Senator election. Even if the person nominated to be the Federal Senator is not of the party of your liking, there is a good chance that there is enough juice in the process to not have what we got now. The elitists created this so they won't give it up. This was part of the checks and balances of the founding fathers. They were/are slowly been eliminated to bring in the tyranny that is enveloping us now.

I agree with you. We have candidates that really don't represent anyone but their party and their elite supporters. My biggest worry with your proposal would be that those doing the appointing would only choose party approved candidates, much like our current nominating system that has produced so many rotten candidates in the last 30 years.

Corruption has always been around. It is limiting it. You also get the option of removing the ones you vote for in your district if you disagree. Those Federal Senators could have been removed by the state legislatures also. In 1913, three amendments were passed. And there was controversy. The Federal Reserve Act which gave us a fiat currency. The Senator Amendment. And the Federal Income Tax Amendment. These Amendments were designed to remove power from the states. We had already a growing strong central government. This cemented it. World War 1, World War 2, Korea, Viet Nam, Cold War, Middle East, etc. That is just the foreign affairs side of things. Not to say that combating any evil is not important. Its just that some of it has been proven to be staged. And tens of millions of people if not hundreds of million are dead from it in the last century. Domestically we have many issues also.

Mudbloods and the Dangers They Pose to a Peaceful Pure-Blood Society

Mudbloods and the Dangers They Pose to a Peaceful Pure-Blood Society is a pamphlet that was printed and distributed enmasse by the Ministry of Magic while it was under Lord Voldemort's control during the height of the Second Wizarding War. It was written by Dolores Umbridge, head of the Muggle-Born Registration Commission, and contained propaganda against Muggle-borns, disparagingly referred to as "Mudbloods".

Its dissemination was part of a larger effort to discriminate against Muggle-borns, which included requiring them to register with the Muggle-Born Registration Commission, stripping them of their wands and jobs, imprisoning them in Azkaban for supposedly stealing magic, and teaching anti-Muggle and Muggle-born propaganda at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which also did not allow any Muggle-born students.

Dolores Umbridge
Like the Death Eaters, Umbridge wants to do away with any witches and wizards that are not "purebloods." Her Muggle-born Registration Committee seems to echo the behavior of Nazis during the Holocaust, and she works with the Ministry to round-up and imprison any wizards unable to prove that they come from pureblood wizard families. Some are even executed (via dementor's Kiss).

When Harry, Ron, and Hermione break into the Ministry and steal the locket, Harry Stuns Umbridge. Though we're glad to see her hit by a spell, we were positively gleeful when we read an interview in which Rowling revealed that after the defeat of Voldemort, Umbridge is "arrested, interrogated and imprisoned for crimes against Muggleborns." Dolores Umbridge: Please, tell them I mean no harm.

Harry Potter: Sorry, Professor, but I must not tell lies.

It's funny how someone as stupid and disingenuous as Schumer can actually be given national credibility to fix a problem he personally had a lot to do with creating.

Schumer should talk to Senator Rubio. He has fought so hard for this amnesty, but today he admits it is going nowhere. Watch those Jackals try to put it through in the middle of a Friday night. Nah. I really think it is dead. If It isn't dead yet, it is on life support!!
