If you ask me the defense is off to a bad start.
The Judge has repeatedly sustained objections from the prosecution that the Defense is out of line.
Right now Zimmerman's attorneys are trying to get Trayvon Martin's parents barred from the courtroom.
At one point the Judge told the defense "Don't you no-no-no me..." and cited Supreme Court rulings that the parents of the victim have a specific right to be in the courtroom.
----------
While I was writing this the Judge has just ruled that Trayvon's parents can be in the courtroom and Zimmerman's parents must remain sequestered until after their testimony.
Court has taken a 10 minute recess.

Send him back: US urges nations to return Snowden

The U.S. grasped for help Monday from both adversaries and uneasy allies in an effort to catch fugitive National Security Agency leaker

Edward Snowden. The White House demanded that he be denied asylum, blasted China for letting him go and urged Russia to "do the right thing" and send him back to America to face espionage charges.

Snowden was believed to be in Russia, where he fled Sunday after weeks of hiding out in Hong Kong following his disclosure of the broad scope of two highly classified counterterror surveillance programs to two newspapers. The programs collect vast amounts of Americans' phone records and worldwide online data in the name of national security.

Here's a little piece of irony you might appreciate...

Go to Amnesty International's website to read their latest story about the NSA scandal called...

"USA must not hunt down whistleblower Edward Snowden"

...and the first thing you see is a pop-up warning that states, "Amnesty International use cookies on amnesty.org to track user behaviour so that we can improve and maintain our websites."

You have to press a button that says "Yes, I agree" to have full access to the site.

Is it just me?

This one comes under the heading "You've got to be fkn kidding me!"

CNN reports that the Pentagon has ordered food rations for thousands of troops fighting in Afghanistan cut and some meals eliminated all together.

Commanders insist that our troops will not go hungry, but at least two hot meals a day will no longer be available to our men and women in the war zone and some troops may be expected to survive primarily on MRE's (meals ready to eat)for the next 17 months as the war effort winds down.

David Lakin, a spokesman for U.S. Forces in Afghanistan tells CNN this is all part of an effort to "significantly reduce contractor and supply chain requirements".

http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/21/u-s-...

Ladies and gentlemen, the quality of MRE's may have improved since I was in the service, but these packaged meals are meant to be used in the field and when fresh food is not available.

Expecting our troops, in a war zone, to survive on this crap for as long as 17 months may constitute a crime against humanity and is definitely not the way we should be taking care of the young men and women we have sent into harms way.

You might have guessed, this new policy does not apply to the command structure. The higher-ups will still be eating high on the hog and safe from danger.

Never mind the fact that such basic requirements as making sure our troops have enough fresh hot food to eat should be the responsibility of the military and not contracted out to for profit corporations, the decision to cut rations for the duration of the war is stupid, short sighted and a slap in the face to the brave men and women who have volunteered to serve this once great nation.

If this policy is not reversed immediately the Commander in Chief and the Joint Chiefs of Staff should be forced to live on pre-packaged emergency rations for the next 17 months or they should all resign their positions and apologize for what amounts to negligence and gross incompetence.

(This story was first brought to my attention by a post in The Midwest Military Historical Society. http://sq1.us/thread/1015/army-travels-on-sto... )

All this running and hiding will make for a more sensational best seller.

I don't often say I don't like something, cause I got a pretty wide open opinion of things. But I tell you when I went and saw that movie I got my money back. But I think I see at the end of the video what that wolf was trying to convey. To kill someone execution style is horrible. Hopefully this trial will bring out the truth of what did happen.

TWO HISTORIC WINS FOR SAME-SEX MARRIAGE

Supreme Court strikes down part of DOMA, dismisses Prop. 8 appeal
http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/26/supreme-...

Everyone is still trying to dig through the rulings and decide exactly what the implications are, but the Supreme Court has struck down at least part of DOMA and rejected the prop 8 appeal.

President Obama refers to the rulings as "A historic step forward".

John Boehner has refused to comment until he has read the rulings himself.

More to come.

Supreme Court DOMA Decision Rules Federal Same-Sex Marriage Ban Unconstitutional

The Defense of Marriage Act, the law barring the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages legalized by the states, is unconstitutional, the Supreme Court ruled Wednesday by a 5-4 vote.

"The federal statute is invalid, for no legitimate purpose overcomes the purpose and effect to disparage and to injure those whom the State, by its marriage laws, sought to protect in personhood and dignity,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion.“By seeking to displace this protection and treating those persons as living in marriages less respected than others, the federal statute is in violation of the Fifth Amendment.”
