D.C. gridlock vanishes, when Congress is inconvenienced

.....And as if to underline that Washington can always find a way to help itself even if it remains gridlocked when it comes to helping others, when the Congress realized late last week that those budget cuts from the so-called sequester were going to cause layoffs of air traffic controllers which would cause delays that would inconvenience them, what happened to gridlock?
Well, miraculously, it disappeared, and legislation to keep the planes running on time eased through both houses of Congress like it had grease on it......

It's a beautiful day outside. Not too hot. Not too Cold. Not too windy. no rain in the forecast. I'm gonna spray the weeds and watch them slowly die.

Kind of like that thread that drained it's brains and now in it's death throws as POS and it's "Firm" of registered socks and grey box morons post right wing talking points ... half truths and bald faced lies and reminiscing the times gone by when they had someone intelligent to argue with.

Thanks Dp. I wrote it thinking of one of the posters here who is facing a very tough struggle.
Every word does not apply to this poster's particular situation but what this poster is going through inspired the over all theme of survival and faith.
I really appreciate your input.
It was really beautiful, X. You are very talented indeed.

I'm glad DP brought that over here. I didn't see it on the other thread.
It's really good.
Here's one of mine that kind of expresses the same thing. Not as good as yours, but...
----------
The Seed
Grey tide rise to wash the shore with ashen foaming crest
Spawned of depths as yet untouched to fill the sandy nest
And drown the seed within it's shell to draw it toward the sea
And kill the life the life that dared to stand on thoughts that would be free
But waves must crash, the tide must fall and currents still run strong
To distant lands and other shores although the journey's long
And when the tide shall rise again to carry life away
The seed will set it's sights on land and wait the coming day
Wow, another poet. You guys are great.

Where Magic Lives
There is a place where magic lives
and childhood runs its course
Amid the ruins of innocence
and shards of dark remorse
Where orchards grow in disarray
atop a hill of pine
And dogwood marks a river bank
across the forest line
Thick with mist on summers ever
a pale moon crowns the night
Hung on tacks of diamond chips
and framed in firefly light
Where wishes soar on fairy wings
to tend the forests care
as scent of rose and honeydew
refresh the midnight air
This place lives in all of us
though few retain the key
To step beyond the lives we live
and set the magic free
I like this one even better, Jax. Nice visual images.

Have a good one, DP. Going to be 84 here today and going to check out the Farmer's Market.

It's raining here. Not supposed to last all day.

From what I see when I pass by it's about 10% right wing talking points and 90% gossip.

Why do you think Quirk felt like he needed to post over here last night?

The door is always open. Of course management is not responsible for lost or stolen property so it's not wise to leave valuables laying around unsecured.

I think Quirk was only here collecting empty pop cans from the waste bins and digging under the sofa cushions for loose change.

I've been looking through the threads trying to find some sign of intelligent life.

So far I've come up empty handed.

It's like being one of the last survivors of some kind of zombie apocalypse.

You might spot another survivor every now and then, but they're always surrounded by a herd of morons mumbling "brains, brains".

Has anyone else noticed how cheaply made faucets are these days?
Oh, but go and buy one then see how proud the manufacturers are.$80 bucks for a lower end market bathtub faucet with all plastic internal parts!
Even the top of the line $200+ faucets are made of pot metal plated with copper or chrome with plastic internal parts. Someone is sure to twist the knob too far and break it again.
In the old days they were made of solid brass and lasted for centuries. The only replacement parts needed were rubber washers and O rings. But that was when they were made in the good ole USofA by unionized professionals who were proud of the things that they made.
It's all about the money! I believe it started with that dude who made a running shoe in his waffle iron. He started the trend to offshore cheaply made crap then market it as top of the line to fool and his money.
Several years ago, I went to the dentist after not going for a few years. I was very anxious! I got so nervous in the chair that I asked to use the bathroom. Washing my hands, when I turned off the water faucet, I turned it too hard and it broke off in my hand! I panicked and left it there. Next time I came in and used the bathroom, to my horror the faucet handle still sat there on the counter! I guess he was waiting for me to confess lol. I was so embarrassed and felt so bad, but now thanks to you I'm going to chalk it up to a cheap faucet set.
Geez, I hope that dentist doesn't read here!
