There Ought to Be a Law Against an 'Incompetent' Congress

How long do you think you'd keep your $174,000-a-year job if your job performance was less than 10 percent?

Grab your calculator and let's add this up. At a minimum, each member gets a $174,000 salary and a $1.3 million allowance for a total of more than $1.5 million per year. Now, let's multiply that by the 535 members of our lackluster, partisan-paralyzed Congress and you get a grand total that tops $818 million. This doesn't even count all the various perks members get or the cost of keeping the U.S. Capitol building operating.

I think there ought to be a law against such blatant and meaningless spending of taxpayer's dollars. Seems as though a case could be made for conspiracy to de-fraud, mis-appropriation of federal funds or SOMETHING!

Where is the leadership we have elected these people to provide? There has been little or no action on: bringing down our massive budget deficit, the imbalance of trade, the overly burdensome tax system, the sickly Social Security program, immigration reform, unemployment, failing schools, poverty and our continued dependence on foreign oil.

Yep, there ought to be a law.

Incompetent Congress

Petition by Kathy Hogan

To be delivered to The United States House of Representatives and The United States Senate
Congressional Reform Act of 2013

1. No Tenure / No Pension / Term Limits On Length of Service.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 1/1/13. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women. Congress made all these contracts for themselves.

8. Send the consultants and lobbyists packing. If Congress people are not smart or ambitious enough to govern on their own, they shouldn't have sought office to begin with.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: "Congress shall
make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply
equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law
that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to
the citizens of the United States ."

herald the discount in-state college tuition program recently enacted for eligible illegal aliens.

Eligible for what? If you are in the country illegally what can you be eligible for except deportation?

NJ is going to lose money and seats in classrooms not filled by US citizens.

BTW, what's the graduation rate for illegal aliens. For 4th generation Mexican high schoolers it's 9% grad rate. What is the college rate? Can't finish school if you have 3 or 4 kids.

I say arrest and jail for 50 years and take all properties anyone renting an apartment or house to or hiring illegals. When they can find no place to live or no job they will leave. Problem is the rich and big business LOVE illegals gives them cheap labor.

Can anybody explain to me how a person can be a legal resident of a state when they are not a legal resident of the United States? As we keep hearing the federal government is the only entity that can create immigration laws and policies and confer legal status to foreign nationals. In other words only the federal government can grant legal residency to foreign nationals so it is illegal for any state to grant residency to an illegal alien just as it is illegal for a state to deny residency to any citizen or legal foreign national. If I am an American citizen I have to provide proof that I have been a legal resident of a state for X amount of time inorder to qualify for in state tuition yet a foreign national can't do that because they are not legal residents.
