You need to get your data from reliable sources. World Nut Daily doesn't know a valid survey from one in Cosmopolitan magazine.
In California ANY adult Citizen (non-felon) may serve as the State's Official Witness to the Civil Marriage contract. I know of a number of Mayors and two Governors who have officiated, though this is the first time I've encountered an AG serving in that capacity.
Care to provide links to your sources?
I was also going to point out that there have been many State and local officials around the country who took part in the marriages of blacks and other minorities.

To claim otherwise is ridiculous, offensive and racist!

The only thing broken about our immigration system is our laws, broken by illegals. We've got immigration laws now, what we don't have is effective enforcement.

I know our immigration system is broken.....but how do you define "broken"? Broken because this legally married Gay man FINALLY got a green card and his spouse was allowed to sponsor him.....like countless legally married heterosexual couples have been able to do for the last 17 years?

My guess is you believe the system is broken because now with Section 3 of DOMA gone......legally married Gay and Lesbian couples can sponsor their legal spouses just like other married couples can!!!

You are thinking only about exclusionary laws. There are other aspects of the whole INS regs that aren't just "broken" they're completely irrational.

Tell me about it. I live in Florida and Haitians are held to a wet foot dry foot policy while Cubans are granted asylum on the wet foot part.

Notice Marco Rubio never talks about that part?

And it's not just Haitians. Many Carri bean and South and Central American people face the same discrimination in that law.

I've got a story about a couple that have been married for years, but they won't give her a citizenship-track green card unless she goes back to Ireland and reapplies from there ... and waits ... and waits ... and waits.

It's nuts.

Those aren't laws. They're administrative policies.

They haven't broken even those.

Please explain to me WHY Democrats and Republicans should go to all the the trouble of screaming, yelling, fighting, and negotiating with one another, to write an immigration law, or ANY law, if you, and people like you, are going to advocate that: 1.People shouldn't obey the laws written by Congress; 2. If they are caught violating the laws written by congress, they shouldn't be prosecuted, nor penalized in any way whatsoever.

Please explain that.

Our laws are broken by illegal immigration. Same sex couples aren't like married heterosexual couples, they have gender segregated unions. I prefer diversity and integration to NCN's segregationist marriage goals. At least this couple obeyed US laws and visa requirements.

I also oppose Obama's permanent campaign:

"The New York Times reports that the approval is "evidence that the Obama administration was acting swiftly to change its visa policies in the wake of the courtís decision on Wednesday invalidating the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA."

Chain immigration is part of the problem.

Oh, dear one, don't throw that lovely lilting poignant song at such an undeserving old poopoo head. If anything, he should be listening to Roy O's "Cry", since he does so much of it about US being led out of steerage to our First Class balcony cabins of acceptance.

The temps here last week were way over 100, in fact for a couple of days, about 117. Guess what, all over town, I noted Latino laborers working in that heat which would literally kill me doing such a job in that hell in half an hour. I saw ONE Latino guy on the roof of a local bank at noon, working on something up there in that same killing heat.

I'm sorry that a possible illegal, or a legal immigrant, stole such a fine career from you. If they get booted, are YOU going to take his job and rake leaves in 110+ heat?

My cleaning lady is a legal immigrant from Mexico. By her labors, she is sending her sons to college, literally, one graduated a year ago. If you were to kick her out, or disallow others like her to make a chance here, would you come and scrub my toilets, since she stole that high caliber job from you?

Sorry Brian, but regardless of gender make-up.....a couple who is issued a State Marriage license is legally married in the eyes of their state and the federal government!!!

good point. Thanks.

Not the PooPooPoodle deserves a theme song other than the one from the other video..

Much likes BrianG's silly 'segregated marriage' nonsense.

Both are swamp gas:

The current crop of anti-immigration racists consider all immigrants illegal if they are Hispanic (except Cubans for some reason but maybe that's just Florida). But the thing they never want to discuss are the businesses both large and "Mom and Pop" who are hiring the illegals.

If we didn't make it so easy for businesses to hire these people there would probably be less incentive for people to come here illegally.

Yes I understand many are living in oppressive nations. But as much as people don't want to talk quotas in this case we need reasonable ones as well as reasonable polices.

The anti-gays can try to paint him as a problem but they really can't if we let them. This man followed all their rules. He was here legally for many years and even married. He now gets a green card just as a bi-national heterosexual couple always did in the past.
