it was a mistake then and should never happen again. rewarding criminals for their crimes calls for more. just look around and see what that foolish shamnesty caused.

this is all about making us another eu,mexico alone will drag canada and the USA's ecomony down to third world levels.

we need to make a stand and enforce all laws and get rid of the corrupt in office who want to ruin the USA by helping illegal aliens.

good bye USA those in office are trying to destroy the country.

"While critics say the law's amnesty provision spurred more illegal immigration, scholars say that has more to do with the law's failure to create better options for guest workers."

I hope that I NEVER become a "scholar", they actually believe that the current 12-20 million illegal aliens now in America is a result of our, "...law's failure to create better options for guest workers!!!!"

Also, please note, one of the first things this "new" American did was to move into the Mission District!!!! So much for assimilation...

we need to forget how this make help illegal aliens and think only of how this will effect the citizens.

for some reason those pushing shamnesty never mention this showing the only people who matter to them are illegal aliens.

then see how many citizens will lose out in any way if shamesty is given.

This is a very good point they need to do some research before they say it was a good idea . Just where are those people ??? what are they doing ? Is America better for it ? I assure you they are not in fields picking strawberries. Perhaps that is why so many Legal americans are out of work . They were stupid they took jobs a slave wages . wages americans could not live on . They drove the wages down . and now we have records of millions on unemployment and jobless. Perhaps we should not do a shamnesty again ????? let them get /make jobs in there home countries

Interesting article.

However, I think it would be better to just revise our system to allow workers to come here with work permits.

we already have far to many. then the fact these folks no longer leave and even start families for the purpose of an anchor.

we at one time had a good thing going until someone found a way to twist the 14th. we do not even enforce the law on legal immigrants not being a public charge,so we are importing poverty right now.

President Reagan admitted later in his life, the biggest mistake he ever made was legalizing illegals in 86. California was the Pearl of this Nation. We traveled for many years to Orange and slowly watched the sewer that came after that mistake. There was a huge migration of legal Californians that came into Utah in the early 90's as well. Many people always said, they left because of the invasion and theft of this State. No one is speaking about the Californians that lived here for generations and added great spirit to California. The illegals that destroyed California, were the lowest of the low coming in from South America. Even Spanish natives in California will tell you, it ruined their business's and the State.
