Illegal immigrant youth 'come out' in reform push

Eighteen-year-old Dulce Guerrero kept quiet about being an illegal immigrant until earlier this year, when she became upset after a traffic stop that landed her mother in jail for two nights. Full Story

I have the hardest time understanding this. If the police find out that they are ILLEGAL then shouldn't they be arrested immediately. And those who hire them or teach them arrested for helping someone who is against the laws of our country? For someone who is doing something against the law-a crime-to be open and rebellious against our country and our laws, is repugnant to me. Change the law. Or bring all who want to come-legally. But don't flaunt our country in our faces and then brag about it. And don't let them, or those who help them, get away without severe punishment and deportation.

Thats something I cant figure out either! How an illegal can come out and state they are illegal and continue to walk around free is beyond me. We need to round up all the trash and take it and dump it back in whatever country it blew in from!!!

We are just trying to provide for our families here and in Mexico.

I work as an electrician, my brother a plumber working long hours building new houses, for a better life.

I do not care what you are here to do bottom line you need to leave. If you and your brother are so talented why not do back to Mexico and fix that cesspool of a country instead of coming to America and making a cesspool here!

I understand but why not do it legally. If I want to go work in another country, I have to get a passport and apply for a visa. Other countries expect this of us, why not us of them. The girl in the article said she has been here 16 years. If her family wants to live here why have they not become a U.S. Citizens?

...Do you have a license to be an electrician? Does your brother have a license to be a plumber? U.S. Citizens are expected to be licensed and insured...are you?

Then do it LEGALLY, like the rest of CERTIFIED electricians and plumbers are required BY LAW...
And enter the country LEGALLY, like my ancestors did..

LEGALLY and I welcome you with open arms... Illegally, and I despise EVERYTHING you are stealing from our country

"They've brought me as far as they can,'' she said. It's time for me to take my decisions and walk on my own, and if that means publicly coming out as undocumented to empower other students, that's what I'm gonna do.''

You need to walk you butt right back to Mexico! Go back and come back the LEGAL way!

Juan, if you are for real, then you have a moral problem. You have a disregard for law for authority and for truth. I would love for you to live here, work here, spend money here, and send money back to your family. But do it LEGALLY and if you don't, you should accept your jail sentence and deportation like a man. A real man does not sneak, deceive, lie and rebel against the law. You are training your children to be that way too.

Most of you are deplorable human beings.

These are children, who had no choice in where they ended up.

The immigration laws in the United States are archaic. Our neighbors (Mexico) are suffering. Why aren't we offering them political asylum? We offered it to Haitians, Cubans and Phillipinos in times past. Mexico is in the same dire straights politically as those countries were, yet we treat our next door neighbors as if they are criminals.

There are atrocities happening every day across the border, and they are happening because the United States does not want to admit their part in it.

It's not right. Get over your xenophobic ways. These are human beings in dire need. Those of you who sit there condemning these kids need to wake up to what is really going on outside of your safe little bubbles.

LW Crud!!!
We have offered this kind of help in the past... And we have paid the price for it. Reagan did it... Or are you too young or naive to remember that one? We have some of the MOST lax immigration laws and enforcement on the planet! It is not our job to ease the suffering of EVERY peoples on the planet. We have suffering right here in our own boarders that we need to address first. The United States is not at fault for every problem in Mexico...
People from other countries ILLEGALLY invading our country are the problem... People like YOU that think it is only Mexico that we are speaking about are the ones with xenophobic issues...
We do not hate or fear other peoples..

We despise ILLEGAL acts

Ok where do we draw the line to allow the "kids" to remain in this country? There are atrocities happening every day in this country as well and what do we do about it, most likely nothing. There are citizens in this country who are suffering as well, so who do you believe should be the priority? Our own or those illegal immigrants who come here?

I truly don't care if they come to this country as long as they do it legally. They broke the law and based on your analogy, maybe we should let everyone out of prison since they only broke a law. What is the difference, a law was broken.

Providing for ones family is a good thing, but breaking a law to do so is less than being a real "man." Maybe we should check with all the electrical and plumbing companies here to see if you and your brother if each of you has a license to perform the job and are here legally.

I just finished with a landscaping and plumbing job on my property.
Had the entire property (5 acres) irrigated and the pool and garden in the back yard needed water run to it.
4 individuals applied for the work.
2 had VALID us identification and 2 could NOT produce identification.
The 2 who could not underbid the other two by an average of $700.00
I hired contractor #1, who had a valid U.S. identification, AND a valid contractors license.. I paid more.. But I REFUSE to hire illegal INVADERS.

Also of note... Did I mention the nationality of ANY of the contractors who bid on my job, or the nationality of the one I hired???

Nope Only racists and Xenophobes make those determinations.

If that is what you are doing, then get your green card and do it legally! The title of the article says it all ILLEGAL. Meaning NOT legal.

I can't do anything ILLEGAL here in the USA and I AM an AMERICAN CITIZEN. Why should you have more rights than I have and be able to live above the law when I can't???? You are not any more special than I am. I am a LAW ABIDING citizen.

If you want to be in the US, then do things the right way. Do what you need to do to be here legally. Pay taxes like the rest of us. Stop living off of us that actually are doing things the right way!
