Notable quotes: Birthright citizenship

Full story: El Paso Times

"The very fact that people tend to think of these children as 'anchor babies,' as children who are simply born for the reason to gain U.S. citizenship, is ridiculous.

What I find ridiculous is the fact that Fernando Garcia, can keep a strait face when he tells lies for the record. Mr. Garcia should be ashamed of himself. When you have to lie to justify your position you should change your opinions. what about the human rights for the elderly, and the Veterans that cannot get proper treatment for serving our country. Let Mexico take care of their own, and we need to focus on taking care of ours. It amazes me when I see on the news illegal aliens protesting and claiming they have rights, well on that I agree you have the right to remain silent, you have a right to an attorney.... You are breaking the Law. If America is so terrible that it will arrest you and deport you for breaking the law, go back to where you come from! When political correctness supersedes the law it is time for us to reexamine what is correct. My Heritage is Mexican, but I am an American first I worry about my own first my own just happens to be The United States of America.

This law that allows pregnant woman to enter the United States to come here and give birth to an Ancho Baby is RIDICULOUS, A NUMBER OF ILLEGAL ALIENS seeks citizenship for economic opportunities that is costing States BILLIONS of dollars.
Just look at California and it's economic shambles brought to you buy, AN ANCHOR BABY, and millons more on the way because they may be hungry but they multiply like cockroaches.
These birth are planed, lets have our baby in the United States, in 20 years he/she can get us in without all the hassle of going through proper channels.

If it is so ridiculous, then why do the majority of their parents enroll them in our free social services system almost before the ink is dry on their B/C's? Then they uses them as shields and pawns...one only needs to look at Elvira Arellano, the poster child for parents who capitalize on their kids' citizenship.

If you live in the United States and you're a United States citizen, then your people are US citizens and you're country is the United States. If you think you still owe allegiance to Mexico, go back there.

A vast majority of "anchor babies" births occur more than a year after the parents have entered the US. They don't get pregnant and come over here, they come over here, get jobs, then start a family. These children aren't anchor babies, their parents purpose isn't to get citizenship, they could get it faster if they just applied. These illegals are entering the US because of all the drug violence in Mexico and the economic opportunities provided to all immigrants in the US. And without these "anchor babies", the US would lose out on billions of dollars of tax revenue when those children aren't citizens but would just become more illegals to add on to the current problem
