Why? Bi-national gay couples don't count?

This is why I can't do this shit anymore. I'm so much happier staying out of it and having a *clear conscience* when paths I cannot support are taken to secure these rights.

I'm not saying that's happened yet, but I say it because to ME, there is *ONE* clear way of dealing with this issue. It stems philosophically from *EVERYTHING* I have said on these boards, and shows that progressives have the backbone to stand up for their beliefs and then *refuse* to back down if it is these *so-called religious rapists* who turn this into wreckage.

Here is what you do, exactly and precisely, no more and no less:

1. You stand behind the immigrant status of same-sex couples. You do not flinch and you do not waver. You ignore these threats of failure to support the bill.

2. If the bill passes, then you were fair to everyone.

3. If it does not, then the *ultra-conservatives and the "religious" demons* were the cause. Ever see those trolls on the board who tirelessly harass you guys night and day, 24/7? THAT is how you behave, REFUSING to back down and repetitively, doggedly calling to the attention of the nation and its immigrants that the "RELIGIOUS" ruined this and are solely responsible.

4. Voila, you use this doggedly, repetitively and stubbornly to *destroy* them further in the 2014 elections.

It's the same method those obsessives use. Everything works in your favor because you *refuse* to be fearful and you refuse to look outside the bounds of what you see as ordained, absolute and correct. It doesn't MATTER what the outcome is because your conviction carries the day; otherwise, it *doesn't* and that's where they keep winning (when they do win). You can only win by trying and you can only try by doing, by r-e-f-u-s-i-n-g to waver a millimeter in your resolve and *showing* the nation that all the problems are coming from the conservative party, not yours.

Simple.

Of course same-sex couples should be included in the bill.

History tells us if we're not specifically included, we will be excluded.

I say put equality in and keep religion out of immigration policy.

I dont care about gays at all. If you want to push for your gay rights, that's fine with me. Dont stick your collective noses in every other issue. Gay rights have nothing to do with illegal immigration, gun rights, Bengazi, or anything else....It comes down to you not trying to rub your gayness in my face, and I will neither know nor care and therefore not interfere. But if you're going to try to be an annoyance, I'll treat you as one, regardless of courts or Congress.

When homophobes stop forcing their idiotic anti-gay policies into everything including immigration laws then we LGBT people will be happy -- because we'll finally be treated equally according to the laws of the land.

Immigration laws do affect LGBT people directly. LGBT people immigrate just like heterosexuals. And just like some heterosexual Americans, we also have American LGBT people who have spouses who are foreign-born and who need to be allowed to immigrate as our spouses.

Most people are coming around and there are some who will never change and that's the way it is. As far as illegal immigration goes, I dont GAD who's slithering across the border, it needs to stop. There is nothing "gay" about that. I and many others want the borders sealed. We want the criminals and welfare frauds deported. If some of them happen to be gay, TS.....None of these things are gay issues and you need to quit trying to make it so. You'll turn us that dont care, against you.

There's a country that is pretty close to your ideal. Instead of destroying the United States and everything it stands for (remember the Statue of Liberty?) why not move to this ideal country.

It's called North Korea.

I'm sure they'd make an exception for allowing immigrants like you who feel so strongly the way they do about running things with an iron fist.

Jack, with all due respect, if an American citizen legally marries a foreign national they are protected under our laws.

Same sex couple aren't because of the Defense of Marriage Act.

The law should apply equally to every American citizen and right now it doesn't.

Not rubbing anything in your face except the truth.

As soon as DOMA is struck down the equal protections clause in the constitution will cover this, but right now our immigration laws discriminate against gay people in more ways than you would think.

If our demanding to be treated equally under the law annoys you...good.

Maybe you'll think about long enough to realize that discrimination is wrong no matter who is being discriminated against.

To ban gay people, straight people need to stop having babies.

You dumb cluck. The statue of liberty is for LEGAL IMMIGRATION not illegal immigration. I'll take that as a typical LIBERAL slip of the tongue. Why dont you try immigrating to Mexico and see how that works out for you.....Iron fist, I'm sorry, you must have just shown up, I'm Libertarian, I dont care what you do or who you want to marry, but I have no control over those issues, nor do I care, but you are not going to turn my world on it's head for your BS.....Do your "gay rights" shyt, but quit turning every issue into something gay, because it isn't. I know you want to dress up in pink and march down the street and be a "speed bump", but do it for something that belongs to you. Illegal immigration does not. Get over it.
