More than eight in ten Americans believe that you should do everything you can to pay the lowest tax rate possible according to new Washington Post-ABC News polling , a finding that suggests that people likely hold politicians to a standard of conduct they themselves don't adhere to.

Sorry to burst your bubble........hell, no I'm not! There are MANY people like me who pay well more in taxes in the last 10 years, than you've paid in most of your working life along with most of your Southern ilk, that don't feel the way you think the majority (the one in your mind)does bubba.

Funny how when I grew up in the city, many who had little were more than willing to share what little they had, to help their fellow neighbor, or family. Azzholes like you wouldn't share chit - you'd tell someone "hey, isn't my fault you didn't save a slice of bread for a rainy day" - you think you have values, you think you're a God follower - you're nothing more than a selfish, judgmental, shallow man hiding behind a guise of morality.

ummm...glaring error in your thinking...

half or so of those 47% are republicans that didn't vote for obama.

logic is fun!

You are so consumed with hate for what you consider the great satan, namely the "Evil right wing"! How do you reconcile the fact that these machines are leased to left wing and city govts? How do you explain liberal candidates winning on them. How do you explain Ron Paul's 2008 primary in NH, where he consistantly got a 25 to 50% lower vote in districts with voting machines. You're seriously in need of help.

And they are owned and controlled by extreme right wing criminals. They get to decide who wins each election, not the public. I suspect the only reason they put Obama in office was to blame him for the disastrous economy that was left to him. If Obama was really a liberal, instead of a right wing nut, they never would have allowed him in office. Even if he had used his own fraud on the machines, the whacked out USSC would simply have voided the election and installed their guy.

Of course Romney was right. You'd have to be an idiot or the MSM to make minimizing ones taxes something bad. This was a prime example of how our media influences our elections. They take a normal thing like taking advantage of tax law to maximize your return and, in Romney's case, they erroneously equate it with greed and not paying his fair share. Our corrupt corporate media has far too much influence on our elections.
blaming the media for the actions complacent, ill-informed citizens too lazy to do their civic duty is pretty lame.

when that portion of our nation quits voting for whomever has the most commercials with the most flags and the most 'god bless america's" in it, then the media will not have the influence it does. nor will the amount of money pumped intoa campaign, as 95% of that money goes to advertising...

the US electorate has the power, they have just given it over to thier TV remotes...

Lame or not, money and media is what wins elections. Most people get their information the easy way, television, and all politicians know this. It would be nice if people would use their own intelligence to determine what policies are good for this country. Unfortunately that's not going to happen anytime soon and every campaign manager knows it. Even forums like this where you WILL find some good ideas are mostly populated by people who obediently quote agendas that have been promoted by the major parties or the MSM.

left wing? City governments??? We have a fascist government, controlled by corporations who donate enough to campaigns to make sure they get the people in office they want. Then they hire lobbyists to actually write the laws, and their purchased politicians pass them. The republicans have moved so far right, they are beyond fanatical. The democrats have move way right, but slightly left of the most fanatical GOP whack jobs. The democrats are further right than even Reagan was. There is little pretense that either major political party has any interest in anything other than obedience to their corporate overlords.

Those same corporations own the media and have a constant drumbeat of propaganda spewing out into the public's ear and many blindly believe the nonsense. They don't do a very good job as they continuously contradict themselves. You have to actively forget what you saw and heard yesterday to believe the new stories today. And a great many people do believe it.

We are all in serious need of help. We lost all our freedoms. Our government has been taken over from the inside. The middle class is being destroyed. And here you are, spewing mud at anyone willing to risk stating the obvious.

True but in that 10% that are chronically undecided and the easy to influence voters are evenly split between the two parties.
MSM is a canard.
FOX is more widely view than CNN or MSNBC.
AM radio is wall to wall GOP.
To claim the GOP loses because it is impossible to get their message out is stale, lame and discredited.
It was more like this. The American voters were receptive to Romney, he was dead even before the last debate.. Then two things happened that you can't blame on MSM .
'Binders full of women', reminded woman of Aiken, Murdock and Sanatarium. The woman's vote was the group that shifted back to Obama in the last weeks.
And the response that the hardcore had when Christie did what a Governor must do. Make sure his state gets it's fair share, even if he had to be caught being polite to the President. That reminded the rest of the moderates just how bitter the right has become

In some ways I agree with you! But I regard the most of the Repubs as reasonable and I agree with many of their positions. I don't see them as "Right wing" whatever that is. They are a lousy counter
point to democrat socialism. But that is where we are today. We keep allowing ignorant immigrants in, who only vote their checks and nothing else. So what else are you going to get?
A "Fasci" is a bundle of sticks. Fascism or mussolinism is a "Bundling of industries" under the Govt.. Not the other way around.
The Republican president, Eisenhower warned us about the military- Industrial complex, but we chose to ignore him. Cheering the military along USA, USA, USA! Yyeaaaay! From Viet Nam to Iraq to
Afghanistan, From Huey helicopters to Predator drones, their power has increased with each new conflict. Now to turn it inward! But some people think that this can be stopped at the ballot box, maybe they're right.
