Problems apparent for immigration in House

There are 149 comments on the KMIZ story from Jun 21, 2013, titled Problems apparent for immigration in House. In it, KMIZ reports that:

Momentum in the Senate may be building for passage of a comprehensive immigration reform bill after a border security deal was announced this week, but House GOP opposition to immigration legislation remains the biggest roadblock to a bill getting to the president's desk, and that opposition only appears to be hardening.

I know. I called my Congressman today, and asked him if he was voting for the Amnesty bill, and he laughed. And said NO!

and you expect me to believe immigration reform will address this issue and send them all packing?
you surely think me naive and stupid.
what we need now is enforcement and nothing but enforcement. another amnesty would only delay the deportation of any illegals.
like theres no gook gangs like abz , trg, mod, there the biggest gangs in numbers!

As I posted in my other reply. You make it a federal crime to be here illegally and punishable with a ten year prison sentence.
Problem solved. You wouldn't need an additional 20,000 new border patrol agents, you wouldn't need billion dollar fences, you wouldn't need a convoy of busses. They would deport themselves. All illegals out by January 1, 2014. Anybody caught after that date goes to jail.
Gee, how'd that whole "self-deportation" idea work out for Romney.....

It'll never pass, so you can wish in one hand and crap in the other- see which fills up first.

Two types of politicians will vote for this amnesty. You have the self serving politicians on the Democratic side who support amnesty because it strongly favors them electorally. Don't be fooled by the phony compassion they spew. If, for some mysterious reason, it became clear that most illegal aliens would vote Republican, the Dems. would turn on them in a heartbeat. The other politicians who push this amnesty are the stupid ones from the Republican side. These are the neocon bufoons like Graham, Rubio, Hatch, the Bushes and the dopes from Arizona to name a few. All that leaves are the Republicans who still care about this country. Thank God for them.

Oh please. Do you know how many times in my life I've heard that line?
I heard that before Ronald Reagan granted amnesty. I heard it after the Republicans passed Welfare Reform. I heard it after Clinton was elected twice. I heard it after Republicans lost leadership of Congress and regained that leadership a short time later in 2010. And of course, I'm hearing it now.
What you are spouting is called Wishful Thinking. And trust me, after 2014 hits with all the disastrous effects of Commie Care, there is going to be buyers remorse like you've never seen.
The only thing that can bring the demise of the GOP is to allow this amnesty. Why? Because then you would have 11 million new Democrat voters in a short period of time..... maybe more.
And if the Democrats gain full power of our federal government, then perhaps that's the best thing for our country. Because they would turn us into Greece or maybe much worse. They say that for some addicted people, they need to hit rock bottom before they seek true recovery. I think that's what needs to happen in the US. We need to hit rock bottom.
Keep believing that. Just don't be surprised when President Hillary takes over in 2017.

Next year the democrats will gain the majority in the house. If this balanced bill does not become a law this year the dems will pass a liberal one in 2015.

My Congressman is a Republican who understands what "Representative" Republic means. It means you call your congressman, explain how you will vote next year if he votes for amnesty, and he "sees the light." Gun control, he's against it, restricted abortion, he will vote for it. He is a conservative Republican in a Republican District. And he loves his cushy life in D C.

There are quite a few good Americans in the House but they still have an illegal alien lover for a leader. It would be a lot better if they would dump this Boehner goof.

It won't make any difference.

frankly, I think that would depend on whether the economy gets better.

if we still have double digit unemployment by the end of this term, the democrats will lose the senate, and the presidency.

if there is another war, the democrats can forget it all together.

I also agree, Boehner is weak, I think he has the mindset of McCain, Graham, Reid and Schumer on this amnesty BS.

boehner is a typical career politician.

his only concern is to win reelection so that he can parade himself all over capitol hill for the rest of his life.

absolutely no concern for the real issues.

Well since unemployment is under 8% and continuing to drop, the DOW & the economy are continuing to improve, and the only way another war would be started was if America was actually invaded, I'd say it's a lock on the Dems keeping the Senate in '14 and Hillary winning the Presidency in '16.

It's probably not going to go that way.
Talking with my tax preparer earlier this year, he gave me a heads-up about the coming years. According to him, Commie Care requires that we pay taxes on the amount of money our employers spend on each of our healthcare plans. If you are middle-aged and single, and your employer is paying $5,500 per year on your plan, you will be taxed on that $5,500 at the end of the year. Goodbye income tax refunds that many people have become dependent on.
Commie Care isn't real popular with Americans as it is. Now, people who supported DumBama and the Democrats in the past are going to have to pay their dues. That won't sit well with them come next presidential election. They will feel screwed and betrayed.
Now we have to discuss those who will lose their full-time position in order for their employer to escape Commie Care. That's what many employers are talking about now because Obama's little plan only kicks when you have 50 or more employees working 30 or more hours. Solution: cut your full time employees to under 30 hours per week.
According to this report by the Washington Times, health insurance is going to nearly double in 2014 alone, and Commie Care is the main culprit. At that point, your employer might just say to hell with it and get rid of medical coverage for all of his employees.
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jun/...
Your tax preparer is incorrect, and the rest is just speculation. Those opposed to Obama will believe any crazy predictions.

The sky isn't going to fall.

It is according to the LA times. And keep in mind, the law really isn't in effect just yet:

Which is why it's all just speculation.

Those opposed will believe any negative speculation about it because they WANT to believe it to be true.
