"With pressure coming from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, corporate heads and representatives of farmers and ranchers in need of labor, the speaker will have some cover as he moves forward with yet-unspecified piecemeal proposals."

This about says it all. The GOP are the lapdogs of big business.

Exactly. This is a dead issue, and it's going to stay that way.

The Democrats and the unions that support them have already given in to big business on this issue of amnesty and importing more labor to reduce wages for all Americans so it looks like they are already in the lap of big business.

I just spent time reading recent articles from the Bureau on immigration studies... yes State, and Localities Law enforcement are being stopped by states attorneys Generals, all corrupt , taking bribes from big business to push these interlopers down our throats; But as these corrupt State and Country Localities are getting called out by citizens action groups, the more they are getting caught supporting shamnesty and lack of illegals alien enforcement. The war is an inner war run by certain sanctuary states and cities, and quite frankly, law enforcement is getting told to stop certain criteria for identifying illegals. If we cannot legislate honesty in our own locality's, we're sunk. We don't need illegals anymore, technology picks a lot of crops and we don't need millions more toilet cleaners and yard workers. So it's up to the citizenry too debunk the bribed State Govt's and fight to the end until Obama leaves office and we find clean Candidates to fix this mess. Utah has been bribed for 12 years and allowed illegals to ruin this State.

If that is true, why are the democrats leading this amnesty push? And the House republicans holding it up?

First piece should be ending birth right citizenship. Second should be E-Verify all employees, third should be local and state police should be able to enforce immigration law. These policies should go into effect 5 years before any talk of making anyone legal.

I really want national biometric ID cards for all US citizens. We don't need border security as everyone thinks. Local police should to able to ask anyone for their US citizen ID card and when they can not produce one, hold for ICE.
