I'm in Canada and I also have relatives in Far Rochaway...
My sister did not think this storm was anything to be worry about, and because she has problems with one of her legs and, she though it would be to inconvenient to go to a shelter, and she be more comfortable with food supply's @ home.
I'm worry sick because, because temperatures will getting low soon.
I haven't hear from her since Monday morning and she is missing.
I already cheeked with one of the shelters in the area, and I was referred to new number to call.
None of the phones are working and it is close to impossible to talk to some one who be willing to go and knock on her door

she live in Rochaway beach 113TH street
It is about two blocks from the beach...

Please if any one has any information about this area,
please let me know @ arsimpson29@yahoo.ca....

Her name is Milagro monahan and goes by the name of" Millie ".

No power in Far rockaway and to the person asking about Obama he wanted to visit ny first but Bloomberg said he doesn't have the man power to protect the president, so he went to jersey instead. Remember what ever jersey get we will too. The question is how will we rebuilt? B. 73 to breezy point is destroyed. We need to make somewhere to keep ppl wanting to come here. Casino, Mall, Movie theatre something not just a beach and projects.

Hi its understandable how in these conditions we the public did not really hear the news butI did get to see when a news caption came on and said Obama did offer to come to NY and Mayor Bloomberg turned him down. I felt just like you until I actually saw it on the news that the President wanted to come and visit NY but was told no. Look it up.

Hello All,
I am one of the many who had to evacuate Far Rockaway. I am out of state which is how I am able to post. For the young woman with a sister in Canada living on 113th street...there was a fire that started on 114 street and spread enough to burn 80-100 homes to breezy point. There is no power or water out there, but power was restored on 114th st...yet the residents can't even stay there! Everyone down the beach has to go elsewhere to power up phones and come back to check on their apts/house because there is looting going on out there. FEMA/Red Cross just sent help yesterday!!! People are still awaiting more help! There is suppose to be buses to get people to a train station to travel to the city, but that's all I can tell you all for now!

I live in far rockaway and have not been able to go home. My kids are with family and have little to know clothing or money. I don't even know the condition of my home and have not been able to get an update. I came online to get answers to what is going on in the area but the news and social media is focused on all the other areas with no reports on when I can return home. SMH.

Uhaul Full of Supplies

Hey Far Rockaway, i live in Westchester County and see how devasting the things are. A bunch of friends and I are raising money and rented a Uhaul and hope to get down there tomorrow/Sunday to supply food, water & clothes.
We were looking to bring the supplies to the VFW on Cross Bay Blvd. We're hoping gas won't play a part in preventing us from getting there.
Please let me know if there's a better central location, know that we're all trying to send support and your not forgotten.
-Steve
