Here is a quote from the Canadian Government (and other governments) regarding this post.
"We are booked for March.....and we have no intention of cancelling," wrote another user from London, Ont., adding the federal government would likely issue warnings of the situation escalated.

The advisory that Public Health issued on Tuesday did not discourage Canadians from visiting the island, but simply urged would-be travellers to take safe food and water precautions such as washing hands frequently, avoiding raw food and only using ice made with purified water.

British and U.S. diplomats on the islands have issued similar cautions.

Cholera is a waterborne disease caused by a bacteria found in tainted water or food. It can kill within hours through dehydration, but is treatable if caught in time.

Recent outbreaks in nearby Haiti have killed more than 7,200 people.

While Cuba's state-run media had been largely silent about cholera before this week, there has been an intensified campaign against water-borne diarrhetic illnesses, of which cholera is one. Several health centres in the capital require visitors to sanitize their shoes by stepping in chlorine when they enter, and state schools have been stressing hand-washing and other hygiene measures.

If you believed anything written in the "Babalu Blog", you would think that the whole island was under seige, by a Cholera epidemic. The sole mission of B.B., is to harm Cuba's reputation, as a safe tourist destination, by whatever means they can conjure up. It is a newspaper supported solely by the C.I.A., and the dissidents and insurgents related to the Miami-Cuban-Batista-Mafia groups. Keep this fact in mind, whenever you read ANYTHING, WRITTEN IN A BABALU BLOG NEWSPAPER ARTICLE.

GEORGETOWN, Grand Cayman, Wednesday July 11, 2012 – Public health officials in the Cayman Islands are warning against non-essential travel to Cuba following the cholera outbreak in that country.

A travel advisory was issued by Cayman’s Medical Officer of Health Dr Kiran Kumar on Monday.

“We advise that residents travel to Cuba only when necessary,” he said, adding that the chances of the disease spreading to Cayman were limited, but if the worst happened the health service was prepared.

The Public Health Department said it is calling a multi-agency preparedness meeting this week to ensure ultimate readiness.

While Dr Kumar said the risk of importation of cholera is low, he backed the proactive efforts by various local agencies in monitoring the situation in Cuba and taking the necessary steps to prevent, detect and manage any imported cholera cases.

“The chances of importation of cholera into Cayman are limited and even if it occurs, our excellent sanitation and safe water will prevent its spread. In addition, we have adequate facilities and drugs to manage any cases should importation occur,” the medical officer added.

He went on to urge travellers returning from Cuba who develop diarrhoea within five days to contact a doctor immediately and state their travel history so that the right diagnosis can be made.

Kumar also told anyone who has to go to Cuba to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves.

“If you have to go, take vital precautions such as ensuring hygienic food preparation, boiling or purifying all water, and washing hands often with soap and clean water,” the senior government doctor stated. He also advised that travellers should also carry an ample supply of oral rehydration salts.

Cholera is an acute intestinal infection caused by ingesting food or water contaminated with cholera bacterium. It can take anywhere from five hours to five days for symptoms to appear after infection, but usually symptoms appear within 24-48 hours.

Cholera infection is often mild or without symptoms but can be severe.  Approximately five percent of infected persons develop severe disease characterized by profuse watery diarrhoea, vomiting, and leg cramps. In these people, rapid loss of body fluids leads to dehydration and shock. Without treatment, death can occur within hours.

I agree. Look at the 2 posts of "Sandy from Toronto". The IP address on both of them is 'United States'. You have to realize that the CIA has a slew of Ghost-Writers, that infiltrate these forums. Keep your eyes open and enjoy the entertainment. I certainly get a kick out of their activities. The real, "Don from Canada".

What a fool you are. I don't know of a derogatory term that fits your individual situation. You amaze me with your lack of gray matter. I'm sure the viewing audience is rolling on the floor with laughter at your antics. Post some more nonsense, Don from Canada, with the United States IP Address. You take the cake, my man.

The Canadians are enjoying Cuba now before the Miami Cuban politicians take it over and do to it what they have done to Miami-dade ,ESP Hialeah which is probably the most politically corrupt city in USA.

There are probably higher political and police standards in Cuba than Hialeah.

"Miami Named Second Worst-Run City in America; Hialeah Fifth"

Congratulations, Miami-Dade! You're home to two of the five worst-run cities in the country.

We have a holiday in Cuba booked for April and have no intention of cancelling it. Cuba has one of the best public health records in the world, and that is a fact whatever ones political bias.
As for the spat between the two 'Don's from Canada, I don't really care who is the genuine one and who isn't, but I do know enough about the history of the US and the CIA, to think that if I have a choice between the CIA and a Cuban travel agent sponsored by his own government, then I'll believe the Cuban! The US federal government and the CIA are the greatest threat to peace and prosperity for all that the world has ever known. Although its people are lovely and it is a great place to visit; it is just its foreign policies and its propaganda which is the problem.
