The difference between a good idea and a bad idea is often a quantitative matter.

Consider an electric source can be obtained from various fuels. Oil, Gas, Wind, Solar Parabolic Trough, Solar panels,{Hey Make Your Own Fuel}, Wood, Hydro to name just a few. Now which source is up to you.
Now an Electric Vehicle {EV} is NOT hostage to only one source of fuel as with Internal Combustion. Now does one prefer to pay the ever increasing ransom or does one choose to remove the oily shackles and embrace the wind of change. Hmmm…
Actually, my druthers is to deploy sufficient Liquid Fluoride Thorium Recyclers (LFTRs) to power the world in the leanest, cleanest, greenest manner possible. But that wasn't the gist of litesong's post which is what I was responding to.

'fetid feces face flip flopper fiend' can't ask a proper scientific question because it never had science, chemistry, astronomy, physics, algebra or pre-calc in its poorly earned hi skule DEE-plooomaa. Of course,'fetid feces face flip flopper fiend' never had any other science or mathematics training.

At least,'brian_g stumble butt dumpster diver' tried math calculations, tho only a few attempts ended in errors of 1 million TIMES, 1000 TIMES, 3000 TIMES & 73 million TIMES.'fetid feces face flip flopper fiend' has never attempted math calculations, which prove that its proficiency in math is worse than that of 'brian_g stumble butt dumpster diver'.

You asked where the article was wrong. I told you where the article was wrong from its beginning. You wish to argue & showed your further errors.

Keep it accurate. You asked for corrections. When you are corrected, don't get defensive..... like 'fetid feces face flip flopper fiend' often is.

I would love for accuracy to prevail, so lets try some.

I asked where he went wrong.
You said you only read half of the first paragraph.

You then said that even with COAL as the energy source, EMs provided better carbon footprint than ICEs.

I commented that I had seen comparisons both ways.

You changed you statement to say that electricity could be gotten from many sources.

I asked you not to change you statement, that I had responded to the COAL statement.

etc. etc. etc.

If you ever actually responded to my first question, it was too hidden amongst extraneous chatter to ferret out.

Way to change your statement mid-stride!
All else being equal, a coal fired plant providing electricity thru the standard grid to batteries that can be charged as quickly as one can fill a gas tank and provide the same range as a typical ICE powered car will, with all the compounded inefficiencies, produce as much, or more, CO2 per mile driven as an ICE. Where the EV _TENDS_ to do better is in capturing the braking energy. But in doing so, it is not "all else being equal". If you add a hydraulic brake recuperator to a typical ICE, its efficiency goes way up too.
If your goal is low carbon footprint, perhaps you should investigate nuclear ammonia for transportation fuel.
I love how they neglect the most abundant greenhouse gas and complain about the CO2 gas that is a distant second. The most abundant greenhouse gas is also produced by combustion and breathing ... it's water vapor!! That's right, H2O vapor is a more abundant and more powerful greenhouse gas than CO2. Now, whatcha gonna do about that??

Wait until it turns to water droplets called clouds that reflect more sunlight?

AGW scientists don't neglect water vapor. You neglect to understand how:

Increasing man-made GHGs, infra-red energy absorbing, non-phase change CO2, methane, nitrogen oxides, SF6, etc. control average, atmospheric amounts of GHG, infra-red energy absorbing, phase change water vapor.
