Mitt Romney's Faustian Bargain

Oct 2, 2012 Full story: OpEdNews 42

The story is told of a feudal land baron who proffered a challenge to three of his overseers: whichever one gave the best answer to three questions would have a job for life; the other two would be fired at the end of the month.

Who speaks for Romney? He and his wife.

Believe what they say. His wife will get sicker because she said her husband will go nuts in the WH. <something like that>

Why don't they just enjoy their old age and health with their own money instead of ours???

It plainly does, just as "I'm not here to slow the rise of the oceans" writes off the climate.
Regarding climate, we have more important things to worry about right now. When we fix our economy we can again spend money on the things we want, right now we must use our resources to provide the things we need.

It's a matter of priorities.

What Romney wants is an even larger military and another heap of very costly tax cuts, neither of which qualify as needs.

Meanwhile, saving the climate is both urgent and cheap.

What Romney wants is a reduction in tax rates with corresponding reductions in tax credits, deductions and loopholes. This is the same type of plan suggested by Debt Commission. The details between the two plans are different but the methodology is the same.

The Debt Commission stated the top 400 taxpayers paid an effective tax rate of 16%. The Debt Commission and Romney's plan is to lower the tax rate from the current 36% for these individuals and to reduce the deductions etc, that effectively allows them to pay 16%.

Do you see how you take that quote out of context? Why don't you quote the question he was answering?

Romney says he doesn't worry about the rich because they'll be fine even in this economy. Try listening to more than soundbites.

We can't fix the climate, we can only learn to live with the climate.

If you want to keep the peace, prepare for war. Parabellum, an ancient strategy that always works.

We can't save the climate. We've got to save the economy.

Big bird and Elmo will be fine. How about Libya and the four people who died as a result of the 9/11/12 terrorist attack?

"Obama Obama we are all Osama" doesn't sound much like they were concerned with a movie trailer released in July, now does it?

Four people died and you're concerned about a fictional character. Are you really this dense, or do you just play dense on topix.

Sesame Street wants Big Bird out of Obama campaign ad

WASHINGTON – President Obama has ruffled some feathers at PBS by putting Big Bird in a TV ad attacking Mitt Romney.

“We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down,” Sesame Workshop, the PBS-affiliated non-profit behind Sesame Street, said today in a statement....

No nation has ever been more prepared for war than the United States is. We spend more on our military than the ten next-largest military powers combined. You want to spend more while handing out more tax cuts AND somehow magically reducing the national debt? You'll need more fairy dust.

Still, it's no crazier than wanting to spend twenty times more to fix climate disaster than the pittance it would take to prevent it.

I'm not advocating for tax cuts; I'm against raising taxes. I'm satisfied with current defense spending as a percentage of GDP, as our economy grows, we must grow our military to protect us.

We must cut the deficit by reforming entitlement programs, getting rid of entitlements to the rich (i.e. agriculture subsidies to millionaire agribusiness and other protectionist agricultural subsidy programs), and cutting wasteful government spending. Spending must be based on objective measurements toward policy goals, not an ever growing government bureaucracy.

We need to zero balance our budget, make each department prove what they need each year, to accomplish their mission. We need to stop giving bureaucrats every penny they got this year and more to meet inflation.

I'm happy we have the best military in the world; we're still in a war. When we win, we'll have a peace dividend. There's no such thing as a defeat dividend.

We as real Americans join the armed forces with the understanding that we will be at risk of harms way. Although tragic they were aware of the risk. Dense you bet at times we all are. Now it seems that you are a little dense getting a little humor confused with a tragic moment and trying to make the typical funny in a campaign battle with a tragic loss of life. Now how is the dense one?

Romney couldn't rise above his climate mitigation baggage; he's signed climate agreements and can't hide that fact.

Why elect Democratic Party Lite?

That line was already tried, when re-pubic-lick-uns said 'romney who?' wasn't re-pubic-lick-un enough.

I'm glad re-pubic-lick-uns can't figure out why they lost. Dems are lining up to win the next election already.
