They are beginning to wonder if it really is cooling down.

Had snow here yesterday, November 24, in southern New Mexico. Last early snow was Dec. 2011. Nearly broke a record in Feb 2011, didn't break the record but it was so cold it 'broke' eight of power company's generators. Many out of power with temps in the single digits.

This last summer no 100* temps until June. Only three days at 100* in July and none in August.

I've been her more than 25 years, our weather is cooler than it has been in that time period.

This region has been below average all year, spring was way below and now winter is setting up early. One thing we know is ENSO isn't a factor.

The Ohio River is one massive, fast moving, body of water. I witnessed this when I was 14 yrs. old and hope to never see it again. We are talking COLD !

I lived in Columbus during the 1977 blizzard. Worked on the road and was stuck in a motel in Kent for days. Wouldn't want that to happen again.

While one toxic topix AGW denier complained about being cold, as if that meant there wasn't any AGW, two more toxic topix AGW deniers commiserate how cold it used to be. They must be thinking of becoming AGW advocates!! But we don't need you, want you, & would exclude you if you tried to be AGW advocates. We only need the science, & not the poop Heartland pumps, which never was science.

A little patience please. Higher World wide average temperatures may still be a reality folks. There is very little doubt among all the Science Academies on the planet that scientific forecasts of warming will come true. Another unusually cold winter again this year may yet be avoided. Let's Trust the Experts. After all... look how consistently they have predicted weather events over the last 30 years based on the "fact" that CO2 drives Global Average Temperatures and all other forcings are short term noise.

Yes, soon everyone will accept The Facts:
~CO2 is a Greenhouse Gas
~Man emits CO2 when burning fossil fuels
~Today's Temperatures are Warmer than they were 14000 years ago
~150 years ago not a single hurricane, Tornado, Wildfire or Flood was caused by Anthropogenic Global Warming.

Even the IPCC had to admit that the predictions were not on target. The computer model predictions have not been realized.

Yes we may once again have warming, it's called climate and it changes with a cyclical nature.

Trust? I like: trust, but verify.

Going to extremes is the only way to combat the evidence. You must claim that we are not heading for an ice age, as if anyone has suggested we are. You must claim the other side is in abject denial, even when the evidence does not support that position.

It's not science, it's politics. The same m.o. is used everyday by the politicians. It's too bad, we have squandered a great opportunity to begin to understand how our climate really works.

A loss of credibility is not limited to politicians, scientists have taken a big step backwards as well.

That's what makes it humorous, often basic civil dialog can send someone off the rails. I think some of it comes from conditioning, watching endless hours of cable TV programs where people shout, criticize, and throw names around. If the average person behaved that way in their occupation they would be on the street.

Civil dialogue does not involve repeating the same misinformation and misrepresentations, lies and slanders over and over again however many times somebody goes to the trouble of politely pointing them out.

Lie, slander and misrepresent and you're going to get called some names- because you deserve them.

If you're saying global warming isn't real, you're either stupid or a liar.

fun farts is a liar; my guess is you're stupid.

Yes. That IS your main tactic. Good of you to point it out. But you misapply it to reality. Discussing reality is hardly 'going to extremes' even if reality is getting extreme.

But this thread is really about the denialists going to extremes to pretend that their message is being bought.

The 'big lie' tactic that is used by the denialist CANNOT get caught in actual debate. They have no points to debate. The tactic is purely one of pretending to have an argument. Every claim they make fades away as soon as one actually checks it out.

We all can see which side has no basis in logic, reason, or science to support their dogma and which side is the truth.
Every science academy agrees that: The climate changes.
Every science academy agrees that: CO2 is a GHG.
Every science academy agrees that: Man's burning of fossil fuels releases CO2.
Every science academy agrees that: the Earth is warmer than it was before.
Thus... Every science academy agrees with a high level of confidence: the indisputable, unequivocal conclusions from this evidence clearly indicates it is likely the planet is at risk of almost certainly being affected by Anthropogenic Carbon Dioxide Driven Global Climate Change.
Yes! It is clear as to which side is right.

Before when? It's not warmer than 1000 years ago, or 2000 years ago, or 8-9000 years ago. It is warmer than the last glacial period, but not the last interglacial.

It's warmer than the 1880s, but pretty much the same as the 1792. Much warmer than 1816, but only slightly warmer than the 1850s.

So yes you can say it was warmer than 'before', just define 'before'.

Many people have their own version of 'The Bible' yours happens to be called 'Every science academy'.

Although it is very clear, as you state in point one, the climate is changing. I'm sure 'every science academy' will have an explanation of how man caused that too.
