I don't understand why our governnent doesn't take this topic more seriously. It seems they will not pay attention until it's too late to fix the problem.

I'll bet my home on the coast still won't be under water in 50 years - just like it hasn't gone under water during the last 50 years.
The tides still don't come up higher on the piers than they used to, the hotels still aren't under water, 200 year old homes on the beach are still in the same place - where is the rising sea level that you are so concerned about?
Ok, so you're saying that sea level is not rising?

The facts don't agree with you.

I think we have a problem here. It seems that the facts don't agree with you.

Sea levels were almost 20 inches higher here in Florida about 1500 years ago than they are currently. They subsequently lowered during the LIA. We still have 20 inches to go just to get back to that prior level.

Arctic sea level has been falling more than 2mm a year - a movement that [supposedly] sets the region against the global trend of rising waters. A Dutch-UK team made the discovery after analyzing radar altimetry data gathered by Europe 's ERS-2 satellite.

In 2003, Nils-Axel Mörner and his colleagues published a well-documented paper showing that sea levels in the Maldives have fallen substantially – fallen!– in the last 30 years.

"In our study of the coastal dynamics and the geomorphology of the shores," writes Mörner, "we were unable to detect any traces of a recent sea level rise. On the contrary, we found quite clear morphological indications of a recent fall in sea level."

Mörner’s group found that sea levels stood about 60 cm higher around A.D. 1150 than today, and more recently, about 30 cm higher than today.[It seems that this matches up with the Florida results]

"From the shape and freshness," Mörner says, "one would assume that the sea level fall took place in the last 50 years, or so."

The tiny country of Tuvalu is not cooperating with global warming models. In the early 1990s, scientists warned that the Pacific coral atoll of nine islands - only 12 feet above sea level at its highest point - would vanish within decades, swamped by rising seas. Sea levels were supposedly rising at the rate of 1.5 inches per year.

However, new measurements show that sea levels have fallen 2.5 inches since that time. Similar sea-level declines have been recorded in Nauru and the Solomon Islands.(London Telegraph, 6 Aug 2000)

First, we're talking about modern history, not 1500 years ago. Sorry, how many beachfront condos did we have back in 500 AD? And where did this info come from?
The Florida Geological Survey for one.

So, sea levels were higher than present in recent geological times and that doesn't matter in discussing current sea levels?
<quoted text>Second, some of your experts leave a little to be desired. For instance: Axel-Morner, James Randi and "dowsing"
Axel-Morner claims to be an expert in "dowsing," the practice of finding water, metals, gemstones etc. through the use of a Y-shaped twig. Axel-Morner's attempt to prove his dowsing abilities is chronicled by James Randi, the well-known myth buster, who has offered the longstanding One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge.
He's also lied about his position with the INQUA : http://www.environmentaldefense.org/documents...
So, if you can't refute the data, then try to smear the messenger. Typical response from those with a weak argument.

Dr. Mörner is the head of the Paleogeophysics and Geodynamics department at Stockholm University in Sweden. He is leader of the Maldives Sea Level Project. Dr. Mörner has been studying the sea level and its effects on coastal areas for some 35 years.

This paper was also published in a peer-reviewed journal. From "New perspectives for the future of the Maldives" Nils-Axel Mörner, Michael Tooley, and Göran Possnert, Global and Planetary Change, Vol. 40, Issues 1-2, Jan 2004, pp 177-182
<quoted text>Current sea level rise is estimated to be between 300 mm and 1 meter by 2100-without considering the melting of Greenland or the Antartic. Currently sea level is rising around 2 mm per year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise
Who cares what the 'estimates' of [possible, maybe] sea level rise are? Reality trumps possibility any day. Your estimates may never happen.

At the current rate of [supposedly] about 2mm per year you are only looking at a sea level rise of 200 mm (20cm) or less than 8 inches in total sea level rise by 2100. That doesn't sound anything like your [and Wiki's] alarmist predictions of up to 1 Meter. And that doesn't include a drop in sea level due to any cooling periods that may occur during that period - like the one predicted by solar physicists.

CO2 IS THE LEAST OF OUR PROBLEMS
It is a proven fact that Co2 controls our temperature it has been there since the world first began studying the ice cores on the poles prove that this has happened several times in the earths long history showing higher levels of co2 and huge variations in the then temperature. Did you know that today we rely on tiny organisms in the oceans called Fightoplagton for 50% of our oxygen and variations in ocean temperatures of just a few degrees can kill them, where would that leave us, it seems to me that the world is in denial over this and it may already be TO LATE forget co2 there is a far more volatile worry METHANE it is a 600 times more effective greenhouse gas than Co2 and in the frozen permafrost in Russia there is billions of tons of this gas trapped in this now slowly melting mass what this will do to the atmosphere I dread to think.
While on the subject of global warming we rely for our very existence on a healthy ocean and to keep it healthy it is oxygenated by a current called The Great Ocean Conveyor this turns northerly ocean streams down and under itself to flow at the very bottom of the sea to oxygenated the ocean without it the oceans and us will die DEAD this is a fact, I can go into detail how we would die if you wish, another time, BUT if the northerly oceans continues to rise in temperature this circulation will stop and catastrofe WILL ensue

Act Now to save the world! Buy Grouchy's Carbon Credits! Al Gore started up a carbon credit business in London (Generations Investments) to sell carbon credits just before he came out with his movie declaring the only hope for the world declaring the only hope for the world is to buy carbon credits. How Convenient. Well, Grouchy's carbon credits are made right here in the U.S.A. Buy American, Buy Grouchy's Carbon Credits. You'll look better, feel younger and be able to dance all night with Grouchy's Carbon Credits. Grouchy's Carbon Credits last longer than Al Gores Carbon Credits. Eat all the Mexican food you want with Grouchy's Carbon Credits. Grouchy, The number one name in Carbon Credits.

Link please? It's interesting trivia, but doesn't much matter to the millions of people who live near the beach in Florida alone today.

It also doesn't include ANY melting from Greenland and Antartica, which is happening today. It took into account the arctic melting in 50 years...which is now expected in 5.

But you keep believing in people who are hoping that it will reverse itself.

SAN FRANCISCO—Global warming may not be the only thing melting Greenland. Scientists have found at least one natural magma hotspot under the Arctic island that could be pitching in.

This just in. Could there be other things we don't know about this planet. No let's blame humans, that way we can begin the largest transfer of wealth ever concocted by the libs.

And don't forget The Sun was responsible for the majority of the Arctic ice melt this summer.

http://www.livescience.com/environment/071212...
Extra Sunshine Blamed for Part of Arctic Meltdown
New data from NASA satellites observing the western Arctic, where most of the ice loss occurred, showed a 16 percent decrease in cloud coverage this summer compared to 2006.

"There’s been quite dramatic reductions of cloudiness this summer," said study member Graeme Stephens of Colorado State University.

The amount of sunlight from these clearer skies would have been enough to heat ocean waters by 4 degrees Fahrenheit (2.4 degrees Celsius), or enough to melt 1 foot (0.3 meters) of sea ice, the scientists said.

Thank GOD you're a "Christian" who prays for the death of the "scum and filth" that harbors liberalism. You KNOW what is happening, and nothing can stop it. Right. Assuming you're referring to that fairy tale known as the "rapture," (is that right, Goofy?) aren't you dreading what your fate will be when the Good and Righteous are taken up to Heaven? You will be left behind to face Armageddon, and it won't be a lot of laughs for you, will it? If you truly believe in this nonsense, why wouldn't you try to live your life the way the Bible says a "good Christian" should?

Methinks you're nothing but a delusional, dimwitted hypocrite.
