The AG is basically saying he's not going to recognize these legal marriages simple because he "doesn't like them". That argument is not going to stand up in court.

This makes sense, too, though. Just because Michigan is constrained by the laws of hate and ignorance, doesn't mean the Feds are.

With the problems of that cesspool known as Detroit, you would think the people that run the State Of Michigan would have more important tings to worry about.

While I agree that there are many more important issues facing Detroit and Michigan "...that cesspool known as Detroit..."? Really, Foxy, for shame. Don't believe all the nasty crap you read in the news about Detroit. You'd be surprised how much work has been done here lately. Don't count us out yet.

Calling Detroit a cesspool is to kind.

Detroit filed the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history, roughly 4 times the size of the 2nd largest bankruptcy in U.S. history.

It has one of the highest crime rates in the US. It has one of the highest homicide rates in the U.S.

It's population has been plunging for the past 60 years, from a high of 1.85 million in 1950 to about 698,000 now. And the end to the crashing population is nowhere in sight.

Whole sections of the city have been completely abandoned. The police and fire dept. don't even serve some sections of the city anymore.

The city is rife with corruption, from the mayor going to prison, to city retirees receiving an illegal "13th month" pension check each year for at least 25 years.

For cities with a population greater than 250,000, Detroit has the HIGHEST crime rate,(2122 violent crimes per 100,000 population) in the U.S.(for comparison the violent crime rate in New York, now with a population of about 8,400,000, is 639 per 100,000 population).

For cities with a population greater than 250,000, Detroit has the HIGHEST HOMICIDE rate,(54.6 violent crimes per 100,000 population) in the U.S.(for comparison the homicide rate in New York is 18.3 per 100,000 population).

Detroit is a hell-hole.

The last time I went to Detroit was 1960. I'd never go back.

They should plow the thing under, return it to virgin prairie and start again elsewhere.

CORRECTION: The homicide rate of 18.3 for New York I quoted is INCORRECT. The CORRECT figure is 5.1 per 100,000 population.

Totalitarianism lurches forward with Obama and crew taking complete control everywhere they can. And people are so blinded by "gay marriage" that they can't see what is happening.

What's totalitarian about upholding the existing law? Each marriage recorded as legal by a state, when and where it occurred, is entitled to recognition by the federal government. That recognition remains until they are notified that each marriage has been legally rendered asunder by a state. The state's version of limbo for these couples they let legally marry doesn't exist for the federal government. You are either married to them or you're not. Michigan said they were married, they stay that way until officially otherwise. You know, just like straight couples.

Stability? Persistent and unrelenting lack of hope is not stability. Destruction of America as it was founded is not stability. As for socialism and communism, maybe you should ask some of the people who lived in that kind of "stability" how it was. Oh wait. You can't talk to them all. Lots of them are dead... killed by their controlling leaders in the interest of their brand of stability - no dissension allowed. Nice to know that gays will be remembered so well for their prominent role in creating that kind of stability. When the people finally revolt, it will not be forgotten.
