Passed 23-18 in the House.

Now on to the Senate where the Dems have a 13-8 majority.

It's like they're racing Rhode Island to see if they can pass it first!

MN is also getting ready to vote in May with a couple of key previously undecided legislators coming out in support.

Could we have Rhode Island, Delaware and Minnesota before SCOTUS rules?

Yeah, for some reason they're all moving suddenly.

Rhode Island senate votes today.

Delaware will probably pass it by the end of the month.

Minnesota sounds like they'll take theirs up in early May.

So I'd say it's definitely possible we get all 3 before the SCOTUS ruling.

The only real unknown at this point is Illinois.

I wonder why Illinois is taking their time when they looked like they might get it done first!!!

I hope you're right. And let's not forget, we now also have a few States that are looking at repealing their State Constitutional bans on SSM. I just left a thread about what's going on in Nevada, and I've seen reports on TV that folks here in Florida are talking about repeal.

I know none of this will happen overnight. I'm just happy with such a dramatic shift from what we were seeing 10 years ago.

The downstate Dems and some of the black Dems are opposed and need to be swayed (read brided with something in exchange).

I still think they'll find the votes to pass it, but it may take a few months yet.

Illinois would be big because it's the 5th largest state and the biggest in the midwest.

Btw, the smallest state- Rhode Island- just passed their bill.

Wow.
I am proud of those states.
I'm not as proud as I would be if the entire US were to pass the bill, but I'm still proud of the progress.

I think it's mainly due to living in the Information Age. People can be informed more easily and quickly than ever before and that knowledge is fighting the ancient bigoted beliefs without proof.

You could just see the other Senators rolling their eyes when the one droned on & on citing bible verses for about 15 minutes during the debate.
