If gay rights had existed in 1603, perhaps "Queen" James might have translated her Bible in a different manner and made one of her favourites her husband.

I'll be they eat shellfish, too. Heathens! How could they rule a kingdom, while ignoring such wise counsel? I'll bet Kate Middleton wasn't even a VIRGIN on her wedding night! She should be PUT TO DEATH on her father's doorstep! Royal robes of mixed fibers! Trimming of the beard! Dogs and cats... ah who cares. "God's Laws" are too STUPID to be followed.

Because society is different from religion and (I know this will shock you) devotion and gay are not mutually exclusive.

You can thump your Bible all you want but gay is NOT a choice and so if God made us the way we are then why would you have us live in shame?

But I love the way you ignore other laws from God. How about Jesus' admonition to judge not lest ye be judged.

How about you worry about your OWN life and your OWN soul and leave the rest of us to worry about ours.

"If Jesus ever said anything about homosexuality, it is not recorded in the Bible, even mistranslated. He did, however, speak extensively on God's unconditional love. Yet instead of dwelling on biblical love, Christians have historically been more concerned with obscure passages of Levitical cleanliness codes and Paul's misunderstood comments in Romans. Instead of focusing on the incredible injustice and hatred demonstrated by Christians and others, tying to deny homosexuals even basic civil rights, people appear more concerned with the specific homosexual acts between consenting adults who are naturally have a homosexual orientation. As James B. Nelson notes, the Bible more clearly advocates a "love ethic" rather than a "sex ethic."

I Cor 6:9, no way refers to homosexuality. The original Greek word often quoted as sexual immorality, Paul used was "porneia" which means "a harlot for hire". In Corinth in the temples of Venus, the principal deity of Corinth, where Christians went to worship, a thousand public prostitutes were kept at public expense to glorify and act as surrogates for the fertility Gods. This sex with the pagan Gods is what Paul was talking about - fornication is an admitted mistranslation and has nothing to do with gays or singles sex. This rendering reflected the bias of the translators rather than an accurate translation of Paul's words to a culture of 2000 years ago worshipping pagan sex gods.

Romans 1:26-27 mentions homosexual acts performed by people who are clearly described as heterosexual. The men in the NT patriarchal culture exerted dominance not only over women, but over younger males as well. The nature of homosexual acts in the Bible are so very different from what we know as homosexuality today that the passages have no application to today's homosexuality. Such practices as in NT times simply no longer exist. Alleged references to homosexuality in I Corinthians and I Timothy are the inventions of anti-gay translators. They are not in the original Greek texts." (Rev.Dr. Mel White) The word "homosexual" wasn't even invented until 1869. When you see it in the bible, you know it is a modern mistranslation and misinterpretation of the original texts.

"What the Bible forbids is acts of lust, rape, idolatry, violation of religious purity obligations, or pederasty, but no condemnation of homosexuality in relationships of mutual respect and love. "On the other hand, the Bible pointedly celebrates instances of same-sex emotional intimacy, a fact often overlooked by fearful homophobic readers." James B. Nelson, Professor of Christian Ethics, United Theological Seminary

Yet Jesus told us:

John 13:34: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

John 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

John 15:17: This is my command: Love each other.

Matthew 7:1: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged.

Luke 6:37: "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Matthew 7:12: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Meanwhile, the irrational prejudice promoted by some who claim to be Christians, continues to cause needless suffering and death, here and around the world.

Its a Wonderful English Tradition for the King to be Gay
Take King James of the Authorized King James Bible had 3 successive long-term male lovers:
The last of James's three close male lovers was George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, the son of a Leicestershire knight. They had met in 1614, around the same time that the situation with Carr (James 2nd lover) was deteriorating. Buckingham was described as exceptionally handsome, intelligent and honest. In 1615 James knighted him and 8 years later he was the first commoner in more than a century to be elevated to a dukedom. Restoration of Apethorpe Hall, undertaken 2004–2008, revealed a previously unknown passage linking the bedchambers of James and his favourite, George Villiers.

The King was blunt and unashamed in his avowal of love for Buckingham and compared it to Jesus' love of John:

I, James, am neither a god nor an angel, but a man like any other. Therefore I act like a man and confess to loving those dear to me more than other men. You may be sure that I love the Earl of Buckingham more than anyone else, and more than you who are here assembled. I wish to speak in my own behalf and not to have it thought to be a defect, for Jesus Christ did the same, and therefore I cannot be blamed. Christ had John, and I have George.

17th century commentators, such as poet Théophile de Viau wrote plainly about the king's relationship. In his poem, Au marquis du Boukinquan, de Viau writes: "Apollo with his songs / debauched young Hyacinthus,... And it is well known that the king of England / fucks the Duke of Buckingham."

Buckingham became good friends with James’s wife Anne; she addressed him in affectionate letters begging him to be "always true" to her husband. In a letter to James, Buckingham said "sir, all the way hither I entertained myself, your unworthy servant, with this dispute, whether you loved me now... better than at the time which I shall never forget at Farnham, where the bed's head could not be found between the master and his dog". James in some letters addressed him as his spouse saying that "I desire only to live in this world for your sake... I had rather live banished in any part of the Earth with you than live a sorrowful widow's life without you... God bless you, my sweet child and wife, and grant that ye may ever be a comfort to your dear dad and husband".[6] A few years later James died with Buckingham at his side.

Why do you insist on making such a fool of yourself?
Try reading the Bible if you really obsess on its many commands against your lifestyle choice. The Book of Acts will fully explain why it is now OK to eat shrimp and wear mixed fabrics.
You really don't have a clue.
Oh, NOW it's OK. Whew! The coast is clear, everybody! God's linen-on-wool amber alert is over. Paul & his buddies decided. Everyone can cut their hair and get tattoos now, and no one is coming to collect your foreskin. But those sure were sensible rules, while they lasted! God certainly was doing his best work, when he came up with all those various death penalties. Even though the ink wasn't yet dry on the commandment not to kill.

I don't "obsess" over these nutty and contradictory "commands", but they do amuse me. And it bothers me that people feel it necessary to legislate according to these just-so stories. How can grown-ups still believe this nonsense? But, I guess it's hard to view objectively what you've spent your whole childhood learning how to believe unquestioningly.

Who would WANT a clue? The more I read and learn about that book, the more I just can't imagine what kind of mental gymnastics I'd have to do, in order to make myself believe that these outrageous claims were true. This only illustrates why it's inappropriate for a state regent to hold a position of power in the state religion, or for there to BE a state religion AT ALL.

If people WANT to make themselves believe these magic tales, or think of this barbarian justice as a "moral authority", then they should be free to do so. But their government shouldn't have to bear the burden of expecting its officials to support these myths as an official position.

A properly civilized nation will have its OWN laws which have been thought out by the people who are ruled by them. They don't need a SECOND set of "God's laws", imposed by the people who insist they speak for God. Most civilized laws allow for the rejection of "God's laws" anyway, so that people may freely worship (or not) as they see fit. God's own laws are in direct contradiction to this, where he demands that everyone worship only him. Government doesn't even back God up THAT much.

Leviticus 18:22 - You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.
Leviticus 20:13 - If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their blood guiltiness is upon them.
Romans 1:26-27 - For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
I Corinthians 6:9 (NIV)- Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
I Timothy 1:8-11 (NASB)- "But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted."
David, is that "Voila" or "Viola". Have you changed your sex?

In any case, the Monarch of England is the head of a Christian church BECAUSE of the breaking of Biblical rules. The pope would not give Henry VIII an annulment because he ruled that such would constitute a divorce, therefore Henry VIII became head of his own new church.
