While I feel bad for these bakers, I am actually glad they have suffered like this. The more people suffer at the hands of gays and lesbians, who don't care about other people, the more the general population will wake up and realize that gay activism is not all about love. In fact, I doubt if any of it is about love.

And to think that all they had to say was, "We're too busy. All booked up." then shut up, and all this would never have happened.

LOL!!! Too funny, dude!

The only "suffering" these "bakers" are enduring is of their own creation. No gay person has done them harm, they did it all to themselves by ignoring the Bible and the faith that they claim to follow.

A commenter on another story I read about this mentioned that a review was done of this "bakery" recently. It exposed the fact that they don't even bake their own cakes--they buy them other bakeries and decorate them. While there's no crime in that, it does go to show how stupid these people are for turning away business when they're serving and extremely narrow slice of the market.

Another article exposed the fact that they were perfectly willing to supply cakes decorated especially for abortion parties, divorce parties, out-of-wedlock birth parties, and Druid festivals. So much for the pretend "christian" faith they claim to follow, huh??

They're liars and hypocrites and they created their own problems because of it.

Yep!! I worked in a small bakery when I was high school. There were only three actual bakers there and me, the finish baker. We turned away wedding cake business all the time because our bakers could only produce a certain number of wedding cakes per day (three, I think, was the max) on top of all the other regular production they had to do. When that limit of orders was reached, we had a waiting list for dates, but they rarely opened up.

If these people hadn't been such arrogant idiots, they could have easily avoided this whole thing by "checking their baking schedule" and "discovering" that they were "already booked" for that day. It happens all the time. Ask any wedding planner. The better bakeries are often booked many months in advance for wedding cakes.

I'm not suggesting that doing that would have been any less despicable than what they actually did was, but truly, only a fool would admit openly that their business discriminates and expect to stay in business very long.

If their anti-gay statements resulted in a loss of business, they brought it upon themselves by refusing to follow the Golden Rule.

That, and that they were just a barely average cake decorating service.

Oh blah!
.
The bakery put itself out of business turning away customers
.
Apparently the bakery lady never heard the story of Woolworth's lunch counter (now a museum exhibit)

Homosexuality has nothing at all to do with love. It's a sexual perversion and is the exact opposite of love.

If people hate me for fighting against them discriminating against me what am I really losing? The fact is they already hate me and don't want me to have equal rights so if they hate me more it is really not going to affect my life any because there is only so much they can legally get away with doing. If you mean they'll pass more anti-gay laws those laws may be found to be unconstitutional.

You certainly know an awful lot about something you know nothing about

So you have come to the right place for free counseling from the pros

Was your mother perverted and incapable of love?

There are many businesses who have fired and refused service to gays and blacks over the years in discrete ways but that doesn't mean that it cannot be proven as discrimination at some point or that they will not be under suspicion of discrimination.

You are a Liar and a hypocrite. They received death threats and was threatened with bodily harm numerous times. But that's alright just as long as it's not a Queer getting bashed huh? I'd like to see them [email protected] come at me in a threatening way. We'd see just how brave them mouthy AssTrolls really are.
I don't know if there is proof of these threats and ugly comments from gays but if said that doesn't mean they represent the majority of gay people just because a few people have said such things. How would you like to be held accountable and judged based upon what a few straight men have said and/or done? I refuse to take responsibility for the actions of another gay person because they are not me and I am not them.

And I'm a church-going Christian, and I don't remember it saying anyplace in the bible: "Don't be a lesbian and don't marry a lesbian."

A bit off-topic, but has anyone actually ever had an abortion party? What do they serve for appetizers, balut?

Closed a bakery.
Lost support for the Boy Scouts.
Got father/daughter school dances banned in Rhode Island.
M/M sexual assault way up in the military since DADT was done away with.
Caused scores of proms to be cancelled.

An impressive and growing list.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a happy ending to a sad, sick story about bigotry and discrimination.

Obviously, plenty of our straight allies boycotted the bakery ... at least enough of them that Melissa's revenues declined and made it impossible for her to pay her rent and keep the storefront open.

That, my friends, is a hopeful sign for those of us who believe in supporting the Constitution. I might even say, it's as American as "apple pie."
