ECLA was green with envy that TEC beat them to the punch when it came to electing a gay bishop. Now they can decline together in tandem with one another. They are so happy!

Yes. They are happy Churches, for the most part. And well they should be.

They are both practicing and acting on the Teachings of Christ Jesus.

As for any so-called "declines," there is much to be said about all of mainline Christian religion - worldwide Christianity.

It is under assault from two sides; the Christo-fundamentalist-literal ists, which oddly include the Islamofascists, on one side, and the secular atheists, which also include an element of fundamentalist-literalists in the form of progressive socialists on the other side.

The author,[One Who Does Not] Listen to the Word, of the above post places himself in the first category.

yet, funnily enough, when you look at the pew research center's survey results....the more "conservative" denominations are the ones that lost the most congregants. the biggest gainer, was, sadly, the "non-affiliated" or those that chose to leave christianity altogether.
apparantly, it's the conservatives that are running people away from the word of Christ.

Well, at my Lutheran church, "St. Matin's Second reformed Lutheran Church And Microbrewery" we got rid of all our old bibles years ago. Instead, we use "Pastor Gay Bob's Poetry & Home Beermaking Guide".

Now we have no more arguments at our church.:)

Are you a member of that church which boasts of having the most number of parishioners who can LOOK THROUGH A KEYHOLE WITH BOTH EYES?

If Jesus Christ "informed marriage is but for one man and one woman", then why were all the Jewish men he hung out with polygamous ?

Dear Fa-Foxy,

History doesn't show them to have been deliberately polygamous. Although, there were certain situations where a man might end up with more than one wife, the standard arrangement was 1+1.

That's certainly not what I was taught in my church or college theology courses.

And the Jews didn't largely end polygamy until about the 13th century A.D., and some Jews are still polygamous.
