California is now the thirteenth state to have same-sex marriages.
I think I would argue that California's status as the SECOND state to have same-sex marriage needs to be re-instated. They merely had a temporary hiccup in implementation.

1. MA
2. CA
3. CT
4. IA
5. VT
6. NH
7. NY
8. WA
9. ME
10. MD
11. DE
12. RI
13. MN

The neat thing about this is no state had to the be thirteenth to enact marriage equality.(Plus, RI and MN are tied for twelfth, based on the first day that couples will be allowed to marry.)
Should Illinois get its act together, they could very well be the fourteenth.
NJ may follow soon too. Cristie's argument that civil unions are just the same is no longer valid. And politicians who have been reluctant to override his veto will now have good reason to vote for full equality in their state.

SCOTUS's decision should provide a boost similar to the boost it gave Obamacare.

Don't forget that with the District of Columbia; we now have 14 jurisdictions where gay marriage is legal

Will you be thanking PRESIDENT OBAMA for his support on this, in fact, calling the plaintiffs in the original lawsuits that hit the court? He actually called them from Air Force One this morning.

You can be sure that, if all the liberal justices had voted down DOMA and it was upheld by the majority, it would somehow be the liberal's fault.

No. As he has said for years, he has been STEADFASTLY OPPOSED TO EQUAL MARRIAGE RIGHTS FOR US. The FACT that he is LYING about his position now, PROVES that he is Evil. PURE EVIL.

See post #10 and watch the video, Obama was on board a good YEAR before the last election. I would love to have seen what President Romney would have been doing for the past 6 months if HE had been elected.

You can thank President Barrack Obama for sending Kagan and Sotomayor to the court, if old man McCain had sent two other tight asses like SCALY-ia to the court, we would NOT be having this conversation today.

I won't be here much longer, for at 6 PM they are having a big celebration downtown Palm Springs at the 26 foot tall Marilyn Monroe statue. She was supposed to be sent away in early June, but is now here till September, and may be purchased to stay full time. MARILYN would understand and approve her statue to be a rallying point for the changing of the entire next phase of American history.
