I just saw this news, and am safely and confidently taking it as one of two things:
1. procedural; or
2. the product of a stupid member of the bench.
In order to be polite, I'll presume #1.
If the "christians" here were to prevail, the implications would be so terrifying and hilarious -- simultaneously -- that they'd literally be giving ATHEISTS ammunition against them. I really, really have to laugh again and again at this, they *do not* know what they're doing. That much has become clear.

If the "christians" prevail, then Jehovah's witnesses can sue the state -- all 50 at once, state by state -- for forcing them to recognize the "safety" of blood transfusions, since after all, this lawsuit must either prevail sensibly, via *fact*, or else give "religion" free reign to do anything it likes,*no matter how harmful*.

At least this judge had the common sense to limit the damage being done by his seriously misinformed ruling to just the three plaintiffs in the case, the law still goes in effect for all other practitioners on January 1st. He'll get his badly needed education on the subject at trial.

"'Even if SB 1172 is characterized as primarily aimed at regulating conduct, it also extends to forms of (conversion therapy) that utilize speech and, at a minimum, regulates conduct that has an incidental effect on speech,' Shubb wrote."
What absurd reasoning. This has nothing to do with free speech. By the judge's logic, a doctor could argue he has the right to tell patients that Alka-Seltzer cures AIDS. Or "Don't worry, Mrs. Jones, amputation of your leg is no cause for alarm; with these new drugs, it will grow back in a year or two."
"Judge" Shubb is an idiot.
