Great argument....... Ummm how has marriage been destroyed? Last time I checked people all over the US and the world where still getting married. Maybe you made a mistake.

Yes, if marriage has been destroyed, it's all Bill and Monica's fault.

Allowing all single unrelated consenting adults to legally marry means "there are no more rules"?

You may be a bit confused.

We have a constitutional right to A marriage recognized under the law, it is limited to only one other person, because no other limit to the number of participants entering the contract would be rationally defensible. As long as all participants are consensual to it, you have the right to your love/sex life, you just don't have the right to have it legally recognized as a marriage, because the state has an interest in maintaining our right to that marriage at one per at a time.

I have yet to see any polygamists posting anything about legalizing marriage. I will form an opinion after one does.

What is the state's interest in limiting marriage to 2 people?
What is the state's interest in gay marriage?

The simple answer to both of your questions is equality.

A state interest is necessary to infringe upon, not to extend, a right. This has been explained to you ad nauseum.

The state doesn't have to have ANY interest when it comes to who may access fundamental rights like marriage. No one has to prove they are worthy.

As to what benefits the state might receive, that would be the same whichever two consenting unrelated adults choose to marry.

As for polygamy, why are you bothering to ask people who have no interest in it? Really, only bigots try to bring it into any argument regarding gay folks marrying ONE in the same way that all heterosexuals can.

To have your "honest" questions about polygamy answered, you would need to ask both polygamists, and those that deal with polygamy in all it's forms, and have pro and con positions.

Coming to a gay/lesbian forum for that is silly, and makes about as much sense as asking random strangers on the street.

He only posts about polygamy on threads that have nothing to do with polygamy. You know, he derails the topic so it's all about Frankie.

I don't believe that this "poll" should be attached to a gay/lesbian forum, but since it is, I'll throw in my two cents' worth. Add another answer to your list above to indicate "yes, after all the legal ramifications have been answered". Polygamy is a much more complicated issue than marriage equality for same sex couples. No one in their right mind could conflate the two issues.

I started this poll/thread in hopes of giving Frankie Rizzo a place to speak his concerns about polygamy. Please Read NE Jade's comment above yours

If that's the case, I'll just delete this thread from my reminder list. Thanks for the "heads-up".

I support same sex marriage. I also support polygamy. How am I a bigot?
