Wow. Judging by the comments from some GOP legislators, we've got a LOT of work to do in Wyoming.

This demonstrates just how difficult it will be to get marriage equality in some of the GOP controlled states. I honestly expected better from Wyoming considering their history of broadly supporting equality in other areas.

I can only imagine the arguments in Mississippi or Alabama.

Of course we've got a lot of work to do. The conversation is just beginning. It will take a decade or more, unless nudged along by the courts. But the fact that the bill went this far is encouraging. It shows that the state has thoughtful legislators who can study issues with an open mind.

The willingness to accept change is directly proportional to one's understanding of the issues. The committee clearly studied the issue intensely. The legislature, as a whole, did not. So they voted primarily on their preconceived notions. When these issues go to the electorate, they put even less thought into their votes.

That's why I'm not in a hurry to put issues on the ballot in 2014. Maine and Washington spent three years canvassing the electorate to effect their wins in 2012. That's the model we need to use going forward.

Many people think the tide has turned and victories are now inevitable. Such thinking could doom our progress.

Look folks I am from upstate NY,,,deep in the country,,,not the city. Don't let Gay marriage get through it, First of all if you have christian value read romans 1:26-32 to understand what god says about homosexuality. In in fighting neighbor against neighbor has been horrible. ALL it does is divides the small communities creates problems for children of Gay parents.....trust me from experience here, that nothing good for the whole community will come from it, just a few gay ppl.

you know that is pretty true with alot of folks up here. A hot date here is a girl under 300 lbs and has more than 4 teeth (preferable in front) and isnt related to you. But we have rejected that kind of lifestyle in our community here, try to get a jon in town...Not likely.
