Gays are not guaranteed the right to wed in church

Aug 13, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Modesto Bee

When Barbara Brecher and Terry Allen married in June 2008, during the brief window that year when same-sex marriage was legal in California, they asked the entire membership of Congregation B'nai Israel to witness the ceremony.

Now, you can sit on a fence and talk about freedom, bigotry or morality but sooner or later, a choice will be forced on you because you won't make your own.
Tell us about freedom now!

They do have difficulty dealing with facts, unless of course they are 'facts' they made up. I pity them, but sadly that just seems to annoy them more. Oh dear, they really are disturbed in their role as misfits

Not in the slightest. My beliefs were not specifically mentioned and their place spoken of in The First Amendment. You can bow down to one god or 100 gods, you can claim that marshmallows are an affront to your deity and protest at stores that sell them, you can whine until the sun drops from the sky and rolls along the ground leaving a little flaming trail...it doesn't make one bit of difference to anyone other than you and your ilk.
McIver wrote:

No, it's merely a statement of my Religious belief and the fact that I take as much Pride in it as your ilk do in theirs.

You have no 'advantage', your whole supposition is based upon mythology. You aren't magnanimous, you're condescending. Save your "pity" for those interested in such castings, you have nothing of actual value to offer.

From what's been shown, you wouldn't know a fact if it bit you. Go find some others to "pity", maybe you'll find the one person that doesn't tell you to put your sanctimonious claptrap where the sun doesn't shine.

ANY church has the right NOT to marry ANYONE they don't want to in the USA! This thread is more of a concern for the UK not the US.

That seems a bit unfair. Homosexuals are famous for expounding their beliefs outside their bedrooms.
I tolerate all beliefs and idiocincracies of people of all persuasions, but it seems you are the pot calling the kettle black.
Accept that there are people who don't really care what you are or what you do, they just don't want to hear about it when you are defending your habits and exposing your insecurities.
There is a huge difference between speaking crudely about ones sex life and expecting equal treatment under Constitutional law.

You really are a subject for pity. Which of course is why I pity you. Whether or not you shun my pity for you is irrelevant. I pity you because your posts are full of bile. Peace be with you.

Then why keep forcing your sexual foibles down other people's throats? Learn to treat others with equanimity and you may receive it in return. You see yourself as superior, but you're not. You are just another disturbed misfit, trying to blame your queer tendencies on others. Oh how I pity you. I know you don't want my pity. but you can't stop me pitying you. I will never exchange insults with you. Insults are your domain. They are how you deal with your insecurities.

Strictly amateur hour troll, you are. The "bile" you sense, merely a reflection of what you put forth. You can rest in peace as well.

They aren't forced down your throats, they're merely stated as in the same manner yours and those like you state theirs. The fact that you think you should ave a right to object says quite a bit about yourself.

You know nothing of me. You make assumptions, but as is your way, facts don't figure in your life. You just make it up as you go along.

You're craving for approval simply makes me pity you more.

I don't need to know anything of you, your actions speak quite clearly. You're here trying to harass those who happen to be homosexual while attempting to come off as some type of clergy or "Christian". The smug air roils off you the moment you attempt to "speak" using short, clipped, and grammatically inaccurate sentences with no punctuation other than to end your sentences. You 'crave' for others attention, acting as though your pronouncements and pontifications has any actual bearing on lives other than your own. Sad, Pitiful, and ultimately useless. Too bad for you. You know nothing of actual facts, but you try to pretend as though you do to garner some sort of attention. That's what makes you a poseur.

Your own post provides an example of the use of insults to make your case.

It is those opposed to marriage equality who have been using the law to impose their beliefs on others. Anti-gay laws continue to be promoted, while equal rights laws continue to be opposed, by those who wish to impose their religious beliefs on the public.

No gay rights organizations are trying to impose laws that deny to you the legal rights they seek for themselves. Churches can deny marriage to anyone for any reason.

And you provide another example of demeaning attacks on the character of those with whom you disagree, rather than any attempt at a rational discussion on the merits. This suggests you understand you have no argument on the merits, and must resort to stigmatization and dehumanization.

In the US, any church can refuse to conduct any rite for any reason at any time.

A church in the south recently refused to marry a black couple, who were members of their church. No legal problem. Embarrassing for many, but perfectly legal.

Once again, you resort to pejoratives and personal demeaning attacks, demonstrating dehumanization remains the refuge of those with no argument on the merits.

No laws deny to you the rights enjoyed by gay people, while you wish to deny to gay people the rights you expect for yourself.

Do you really not see that your own posts rely on insults? Your own posts fulfill the insults you attempt to employ.

Most laws that recognize marriage equality for same sex couples have also made it clear that no church can be required to perform any marriage. It is you who refuses to follow the Golden Rule.

No one is forcing anything down your throat, of if they are, you should call the police immediately. You may still resist any unwanted physical force. Treating others as you would yourself under the law does not force you to change your orientation or marry a same sex partner.

So why are you here? You and your fellow misfits have highjacked this forum, just like you are trying to highjack society. It's just another homosexual ploy to infiltrate the lives of normal people.
In terms of my writing style, it simply proves you do not read newspapers. Anyway your opinion has no standing in the real world.
If only you could control your anger at being a homosexual and in turn become more articulate, i.e. not having to rely on insults to justify your homosexuality, you may find inner peace rather than continue living as an unhappy misfit, only comfortable with those others who inhabit Misfit Mountain.
My pity for you is unconditional. It doesn't require your approval.
May you soon find peace in a release from your troubled life. Not only you, but all those of you who practice your 'denial' on Misfit Mountain.

BRILLIANT! I am truly flattered that you view my post worth repeating. There may be hope for you yet.

We'll see! I'm sure you'll offer up some more unfounded insults before you are cured, but I have plenty of pity to offer you. Walk in peace. You can't! Oh well maybe some day.
