The Delaware State Legislature passed a marriage equality law last week, so I don't think Minnesota can make this claim...

Yeah!!

Now that just leaves Illinois & New Jersey pending votes this year, and of course California.

We may end the year with 15 states, having started with 9.

Hopefully, a decision to uphold DOMA. I have no doubt it will.

Sorry, but it has been well discussed that there is a greater chance of SCOTUS tossing DOMA Section 3.....next month.......we will know soon enough!!!

Why "hopefully" ?

Please explain, in detail, how 2 gay men getting married in New York, or 2 lesbians getting married in Iowa, affect your life.

Give at least 3 specific examples of how the marriages of these 2 couples, living in states other than your own, has affected your life in a negative way.

I couldn't care less what the States do. NONE of the marriages are recognized in states that do not allow queer marriage. The federal level is the only thing that matters. If DOMA is upheld, all the same sex marriages in the country are basically moot as far as benefits are concerned.

I think with the way things have been going in the last 6 months and basically picking up 6 States with Marriage Equality, SCOTUS is very much aware of what is going on and I believe DOMA Section 3 will be toast by the end of next month, maybe before.......and they could also not only add California, but 7 other States as well........but if all we get is California and Section 3 gone......it will be a huge victory!!!

We could have Illinois before the end of May as well:-)

"If DOMA is upheld, all the same sex marriages in the country are basically moot as far as benefits are concerned."

Which is exactly why DOMA will be found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. It is such an obviously discriminatory law. A few of the justices (Scalia comes to mind) will figure out some way to justify upholding this law, but most of the justices recognize injustice and discrimination when they see it, and they will vote to overturn it.
