if they TOOK some pride in the parade, instead of going out of their way to look and act as bizaar as possible, maybe mainstream america would have a bit more respect ...
pelosi is there because it's her district ... these are her constituants and she'll do whatever she has to to keep their votes...i'm sure she couldn't care less if they all fell off the face of the earth, the DAY AFTER the election!

1) Mainstream America respects the gay community and gay people.

Bigots like you may have had a place in mainstream America when you were young. But in case you haven't figured it out yet, people like you are now among the fringe characters, out of the American mainstream.

2) If THEY took some pride in their parade? Who are "they"?

Can't you comprehend it's a parade, not a world view? You don't hold all people responsible for all elements of the group, just like nobody should hold you responsible for every right wing extremist or every Zionist kook.

3) It's not "bizaar", it's "bizarre". Instead of "constituants", go with "constituents".

You're welcome!

Only in S F would you see a clown show like this, we are getting pretty inbred here in minnesota so things will probably get bad here to.
Too bad they just didn't round them all up when they were in one group, they could have taken them to Iran to have the parade..

So should these people to conform to set away because "Middle America" sets the standard of good and decency. Who has the right to set the culture that we should to conform to?

Why do you have the right to set the standard for the country? What specific actions would you want them conform to?

well, i appreciate the fact you prefer to discuss, rather than pitch a poo-poo fit...
I'M not setting any standards, but, yeah, society does, just as it always has. and NOBODY is asking them to do anything...
i merely made MY opinion known, that I, personally, would hold them in much higher regard if they held THEMSELVES in higher regard ... once again, MY OPINION that the nun outfits, the drag queen outfits, the outrageous behavior don't lend themselves to a group that wants to be taken seriously.

It is my understanding that there are social conservatives in the country and they are sensitive to the acts of overt sexuality Therefore, the selfless thing to do is tone down the overt sexuality of the pride parade so that the social conservatives less offended

I think such actions will happen if the social conservatives took the action of not using such incendiary language with gays. I think the people at Pride show overt sexuality as an act of defiance to the social conservative.

Selfless action is such a tough thing to do in this case given the level of incendinary language used by social conservatives. I think the LGBT community needs to start to see this community of sensitive people that get easily offended by acts of overt sexuality and understand the basis of their senstivity. The action required by the social conservatives is start to tone down the incidenary language significantly and learn that not everyone in this society is going to conform their standards. There is a happy medium on this issue but it requires people to become honest, admit their part, admit the character defect that resulted from their action, and take action to remedy the matter.

Why buy into the simplistic, obsolete cartoon stereotypes about the Pride celebrations? People like Carey suffer from cognitive development that arrested in the 1970s. Maybe back then those parades were largely flamboyant and over the top. Times change, people & groups mature, the world moves on.

On tonight's news in Chicago, parade coverage featured a float which featured Chicago Blackhawks players & the Stanley Cup, beloved Hall of Famer Ernie Banks on the Chicago Cubs float, Republican and Democratic officials, and heterosexual families enjoying the festivities. A picture of mainstream America.

Do all Irish condone alcoholism? Do all Mexicans condone illegal immigration? Do all Italians condone organized crime? Of course not. So why would an intelligent person believe all gays buy into cross dressing or the dykes on bikes riding motorcycles in the Pride Parade?

Funny, I feel the same way about Republicans. They should all be rounded up and sent to Iran where they would be accepted as equals, fit in nicely with the religious fascists running things, and they wouldn't have to constantly fight the liberal, commie pinkos over here.

I think you may be onto someting, Jackee!

Maybe you could start another bowel movement like the Teaggers, call it Tea and Sympathy, or maybe Tea and Hookah's.

And you DIDN'T look stupid in that getup as Cattle Queen of Montana?

Get a grip, Mary.

What is "bizaar?" Would that be pronounced "BIZZER?" If so, then that's what we called someone who was gettin' some on a regular basis back in grade school.

If you meant "bizarre" it would at least make sense in context, but from what I saw of the parade, and we have them here in Key West and Miami as well, then I would say there's more drag available at your local rodeo or NASCAR race. Have you been to pro football game lately?

Just another excuse for straight boys to act "gay" and get away with it- sort of like "professional" cage wrestling, can't get more gay than that.

Interesting comments, but you seem to be implying that those
participating in Gay Pride parades are consciously or
unconsciously conforming to the image or expectations of
social conservatives by "defiantly" expressing "overt
sexuality."

I don't think the gay community, whatever that is, views it
quite that way.

Have you ever heard of the outfits (and non-outfits) that are worn at Mardi Gras?? I promise I won't link you with them, and you don't link me with people who dress funny to just have a good time.
