Court to Decide if Lawyers Can Block Gays From Juries

There are 8 comments on the www.nytimes.com story from Jul 30, 2013, titled Court to Decide if Lawyers Can Block Gays From Juries. In it, www.nytimes.com reports that:

Last month's Supreme Court rulings on same-sex marriage were major gay rights victories. But countless questions about the legal rights of gay men and lesbians remain.

Here’s one: May gays be excluded from juries on account of their sexual orientation? The federal appeals court in California will soon decide the issue, which turns out to be surprisingly knotty.

That's asinine. There are just as many straight people with HIV as there are gays and nobody can tell who has it. Why wouldn't that mean NOBODY would be allowed to serve on those juries?

In a jury of peers for an HIV case; an HIV-positive juror could bring knowledge to the legal system that is obviously currently lacking

Actually, the MAJORITY of people who are hiv+, or suffering from AIDS are black. Therefore, should all black Americans be excluded from juries ?

I think we all know the answer to that question.

They already have bias; sugar
.
We're potting a way to overcome their bias
.
If gays are blocked from juries; they will have to ban us from court altogether
.
There would be no gay jury of our peers to pass fair and knowledgeable judgement

Do civil unions really do what the anti gays said they would do?

Well well well. Looks like the claims by the bigots that civil unions will do the same thing as marriage is unraveling in KY.

Exclusive: Will a lesbian couple be forced to testify against each other?

I hope we get this to be a big buzz on the internet. It will be interesting to hear the usual suspects respond,(Hannity, Limbaugh, Nom, AFA, Robertson, O'Reilly, etc.).

I Love it! PLEASE promote this story everywhere: Facebook; Twitter; etc.

Oh and all you anti gays who backed civil unions.....

I tell people I am a gay Christian. I also don't like to lie. I made a mistake about information in the KY lesbian story. I posted that error on many threads. KY does NOT have a civil unions law.

I am embarrassed that I failed to do the research I so often criticizes others for not doing.

I sinned and now repent that sin.

Can heterosexual be excluded from juries based on their sexuality?

Let's apply a little common sense here.
