<quoted text>It's scary. PA is basically a beautiful State, but some of it's people...Saw today where Rick Santorum placed 3rd in the straw poll at CPAC to be the next president.
If the CPAC poll means anything this far from 2016, we're in for another primary circus. And the winners were:

Rand Paul
Mark Rubio
Rick Santorum
Chris Cristie
Paul Ryan
Scott Walker
Ben Carson
Ted Cruz
Bobby Jindal

and last but never least

Sara Palin

Thanks. I noticed one name that to me is curiously absent. Rick Perry!

But Yes I'm preparing for another 2 year circus starting in 2014.

Perry self-destructed in New Hampshire. Remember the maple syrup fiasco? Everybody thought he must have gotten a fermented batch.

I think the final straw was the brokeback mountain commercial.

<quoted text>No, I didn't mean that specifically. Everytime I hear about Pennsylvania, whether it be gay rights, gun control, race relations, etc, the news reports always make it seem like it's hillbillt country in some godforsaken place like Arkansas or some other state nobody ever heard of before.

Being a northeastern state, I would expect it to be more like New York or New Jersey or New Hampshire.
Hey now, Arkansans aren't as backwoods as you might think :)

Ahhh the blessing of no TV is that I saw NONE of the campaign commercials last year.

Well all I learned about Arkansas I learned from "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour" (which was on tv last nite. LOL)

(And my dad (born in Brooklyn) told me (also born in Brooklyn) that people from Arkansas are still marrying their cousins and wondering what the words "shoes" means.)

Chick-Fil-A Now Firing Women So They Can Stay Home And Make Babies, For Jesus
by Rebecca Schoenkopf
Hey hey Chick-fil-A, how many women did you fire for having children at home so they could be “stay home mothers” in blatant disregard for sex-discrimination laws and common decency and humanity on top of all your other pressing PR problems that are totally “neutral” in the culture wars today? Oh, just the one, Brenda Honeycutt of Duluth, Georgia? But maybe like five more? In just one restaurant? Well depending on your judge that may not be enough to show a pattern of willful discrimination, so by all means, carry on!
GLAAD reports on Honeycutt’s gender discrimination suit, wherein Honeycutt points to five other women who were either demoted or terminated and replaced by men; in at least one other case, this happened after the woman became a mother. But here’s the kicker: defendant Jeff Howard apparently told Honeycutt that was why he was firing her. Dude, time for a refresher course from HR.

About half the states allow the marriage of first cousins, and i would guess that most of the states that allow gay marriage also allow the marriage of first cousins.

And unless you tell the person giving you the license, or teh person offciating at the ceremony, how would anyone even know that a couple are first cousins ?
