LGBT Refugees Face Difficult Time Even From Those Who Help Refugees

The number of LGBT refugees is growing according to the Organization for Refuge, Asylum & Migration or ORAM.

They are indeed. But in countries like Canada, which are a bit more welcoming than the US, there is also a lot of corruption in this area - and some comes from the gay community itself. For example I have been told that here in Toronto there is a lesbian of immigrant extraction (I'll leave her country of origin out but will not that it is an extremely anti-gay place) who works in our gay community centre assisting refugees. Here in Canada, the government entrusts NGO's, including gay community centres, to help validate refugee claimants. Well, this woman is taking money from straight people from her country ( and perhaps other countries) to help them become "gay" as far as the federal government is concerned.

The problem is that most countries where homophobic persecution takes place are also countries that people want to leave for other reasons - either economic or general bad conditions.

Maybe she will be deported, as she so richly deserves.

The article fails to tell about how many LGBT left the States during the eight years of Bush when he stole the election. With them, they took new inventions, art, education and huge amounts of money nearly breaking the States. If 50% or more left in the States were to leave, it would bankrupt the States and this is why the government now has a fee for leaving and giving up US citizenship.

The States will need a federal gay civil union law soon or risk bankruptcy. Let's face it, the real truth of Evolution. Gay males have the highest of IQs, 99% of the most important inventions have been done by gay or bi males and some lesbian and transgender and few to none hetero. Gay males are always the most educated, hardest working, pay the most taxes and basically can make or break a nation. All heteros do is breed more carbon units then work for gays.

It does not surprise to hear there bigotry among those whose job it is to help LGBT refugees. Some assholes in certain governments try to deny refugee status to women who want to avoid (or protect their daughters from) female genital mutilation because they deem FGM to be "not immediately life threatening".

It doesn't matter that the women won't die or that the countries they come from are not war zones, their bodies are being violated in the same way as armies committing mass rapes. If penises were under threat of being hacked off, you can bet refugee status would be granted immediately.

It may not be the same people or the same threat, but the offensiveness of denying human rights is the same.
