BINGO! That's why we are fighting for marriage equality -- LGBT citizens pay taxes just like heterosexuals do, and we deserve all the same legal benefits that go along with being in committed relationships just like heterosexual couples currently enjoy.

Nice deflection of my question, typical Fox viewer.

29 years. Good for you. I've been with my husband for 20 years. Now, what about the OTHER hets, which you ignored, who cannot stay married...the FIFTY percent who think marriage a toss away thing, completely mocking the sanctity of marriage you keep crowing about.

I just took my stuff into my accountant this week for tax season. As usual, my partner and I do NOT get to file joint federal taxes, losing tons of deductions. LUCKILY for us, California broke that mold a few years ago, so we get refunds, or at least reductions, but not getting to file federal, we have lost several thousand dollars over the past few years.

Meanwhile, our favorite haters on Topix get to wallow in their spousal deductions like pigs in mud, while screaming insults at me and mine as I pay more and help support their ungrateful asses. Nice, ain't it?

Then he really wasn't married at all was he? Just pretending like you've always done.

Nope, I was/am being unconstituionally denied spousal benefits even though I'm legally married.

That's kinda what all those lawsuits are about......

I'm legally married by the state, just like everyone else who got legally married in Massachusetts.

How much more married can I get?

If a marriage is not recognized everywhere, then your legally married.
Just enough to appease you.

More important, the news reports are the Dems (technically DFL) have the votes to pass the marriage bill out of both the House & Senate committees when they vote on Tues.
If it passes, will there be a voter referendum? Or do they have to go back to amending their constitution?

No. Constitutional amendments have to be legislatively referred to the ballot and MN doesn't have a voter initiated referendum process.

So assuming it passes, marriage equality takes effect 30 days later.

Freedom and equality require the rejection of bronze age religions. That is why more than half of the prohibitions in your scripture are entirely ignored in this country, even by so called Christians.
