Then we should allow Moldova, and Georgia, to join NATO. Don't you agree ?

Ideally, yes. Pragmatically, it may be impossible.

Why do you say that ? Georgia has been asking to join NATO for a long time.

And NATO WAS a successful bulwark against Soviet expansionism and the Warsaw Pact (many of whose members joined NATO).

So why do you think it is "Pragmatically, it may be impossible" ? A lot of people said exactly the same thing about West Germany and East Germany joining to corm one united country again, AND it being anchored firmly in NATO.

Not a good argument at all, because you can say exactly the same thing about Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. And they're NATO members now. And they weren't even Warsaw Pact members, but rather ex-Soviet Republics. Right ?

Hardly. The Baltics aren't landlocked behind a curtain of Muscovite buffers.

The Moldovan Orthodox Church is not autocephalos, but is directly subordinate to the Patriarchate of Moscow and All the Rus, though the Bessarabian Orthodox are subordinate to the autocephalos Romanian Orthodox. But Patriarch Daniel has been very kissy-kissy with Kirill of Moscow.

94% of Moldovans identify as Orthodox.

Moldova also has quite a ways to go on Human Rights issues.

I do expect that their desire to join the EEU will be used as leverage to get them to clamp down on media piracy, though probably not child prostitution and human trafficking.

I think NATO should vote to allow Georgia to join (assuming they meet the requirements).

Again, highly unlikely, and Human Rights is far from the only issue there.

I was thinking more of the military requirements. But a democratic and transparent political establishment is a minimum requirement also.

Yeeeaaahh, those concepts lack the proper ideological foundations in those countries. In fact, Orthodoxy actually quashes the roots of those concepts.
