There are 216664 comments on the Fables of the reconstruction story from Oct 30, 2007, titled Catholic Church Waging War on Women and Gays. In it, Fables of the reconstruction reports that:

“Pharmacists must seek to raise people's awareness so that all human beings are protected from conception to natural death, and so that medicines truly play a therapeutic role”

Pope Benedict XVI said Monday that pharmacists have a right to use conscientious objection to avoid dispensing emergency contraception or euthanasia drugs - and told them they should also inform patients of the ... via Fables of the reconstruction

On the program "taboo," a man collects skeletons, etc., and sells them for big money to collectors of oddities, such as the skeleton of a two-headed man.

In his collection he had a skeleton of a fetus. He perceives that the fetus is at peace. His comment was that it is when people are born that it all goes downhill from there.

Maybe he's right, as that is when the suffering begins, and until death of the body sometimes never ends.

And whether fetuses are aware of suffering when in the womb is also a matter of opinion.

I find no pleasure in suffering whatsoever and my wish would be that there would be no suffering.

But I guess the creator doesn't see it my way ... tongue-in-cheek sarcasm intended.

I prefer to see a skeleton rather than a human in agony, begging to die and not receiving any help with that wish.

I watched an elderly woman warehoused in a long term care facility who couldn't swallow without choking and gagging. She was tied in her chair, and had to have her diapers changed as would a baby. She couldn't speak and was a prisoner in her suffering body.

The ancients would often have allowed her to die maybe by freezing or hanging or other methods ... but our society is "kind" and "looks after" those who are helpless.

Isn't that RIGHT???

Epilepsy: Contemplating ‘the Sacred Disease’

PRE-HIPPOCRATIC VIEW

In pre-Hippocratic times, people thought that epilepsy was sent by the gods in retribution for some imagined slight. They believed that the Olympians controlled all aspects of human existence, not excluding health and disease. Epilepsy, as broadly defined, was called the sacred disease, and the afflicted sought treatment in the temples rather than the physician's shop. The standard treatment in 400 BCE was purification and incantation.

Instead of Christians saying "WAIT ... maybe there's more to learn" ... they jumped to conclusions and put homosexuals in prisons for life, tortured them, and even put them to death.

They never said to themselves that there was something wrong with their own mental pictures.

Their religion, as so often occurred ... blinded them so that they couldn't see their own brutality, and were certain they were HOLY servants of "GOD."

June, if it weren't for you being here, this forum would be a total asylum. You help with your common sense and by keeping things real! You're smarter than most and you know what you're talking about; plus you can back up everything you say. There is an overabundance of superstition here but you never go along with it! I'll be back later, I have a nurse coming soon for my diabetes education, which I sorely need (as you know, I'd gone into insulin shock). Anyhow, keep up the good work :)

Thank Sherlayne, and I wish strength to you as you suffer.

Keeping an open mind allows us to take other people's experiences into consideration and that in turn takes our own perceptions into other directions. My guess is, it's not about learning truth. It's about learning that truth is illusive and perception is all that rules our psyches.

For instance, this fellow had a death experience and mentions understanding reincarnation. That would go against the beliefs of others who had these experiences.

Fantasy goes where fantasy goes, and who knows how to tame it?

The being that the Dr. mentions in his death experience might have been his own extremely heightened emotions from his brain cells being traumatised ... lack of oxygen to the cells ... that he in turn simply projected on to a supreme being.

When we believe in a god we can heighten our own emotions simply by thinking about the supposed all powerful god.

Been there ... done that!

As words have many different meanings ... readers of scriptures of the many supposed holy books in all religions haven't a clue what was in the minds of the many men that wrote the scriptures. But my guess is, whatever WAS in their minds was based on superstition.

To place complete trust in those words and put HOLY or EVIL connotations ON the words, is to go on paths where only fantasy is allowed.

When the Dr. that had his death experience mentioned understanding reincarnation ... for people who believe in only heaven and hell, that might have different effects.

They might decide to leave Christianity and become a Buddhist ... or ... they might decide to discount his death experience as just nonsense ... OR ... they might morph their Catholicism or Protestantism into a new shape and add reincarnation as being based on TRUTH.

"AHHH ... at last we have found absolute truth ... and it feels SO good."

We DO so love our own flavor of folly!

My guess is, all the fear that men felt when writing the bible came from imagination of how those men treated others.

They were brutes in their daily lives ... so what else would they write about besides brutishness?

Of course their hero had to be a savior that spoke of love.

THAT was their fantasy of finding something better in a hereafter than what they had on earth.

The Dr. who had the death experience indicates that the god loves us and protects us.

He doesn't even see the folly of his own statement.

WHAT protection???

A little child is kidnapped and sexually tortured and brutally beaten to death!

WHAT protection ... where ... when!

I suggest we stop being so silly and allowing fantasy to make an image of a god into something good.

Ridiulous blather.

If there was a god that cared, the all-knowing god would be responsible for all the suffering, as he would have known when he created humans AND all other forms of life that suffering would be an everyday occurrence.

Only a beast of immense brutality would create such a realm.

Nature is cruel, but there is no "INTENT" to cause harm. A god would have to have the intent to allow the plan to come to fruition. There would be no excuse or reason that could eliminate the culpability OF the god. NONE!!! The god would have to accept FULL responsibility.

Wake up people! Religion was and is a major scam.

If the god "got by" as a perfect entity without suffering ... why would the god "allow" his most cherished beings TO suffer in order to "ultimately" rise to perfection?

Had we been made in his image of perfection, suffering would be totally unnecessary ... period!

When they claimed that a god gave us free will as a FAVOR to humans ... those ancient theologians sure pulled the wool over the eyes of believers.

Suffering was and is not a favor ... not under any circumstances ... and most especially under the guise of DIVINE LOVE.

What a pile of festering steaming manure!

Thanks for the laugh Estelle.

Seniors try to find humor and joy amidst the aches and pains and other dis-ease caused by old age.

Other than death what other choice do we have?
