You'd never know it, as the modern Pagans preach of gods that are filled with love.
Of course that love doesn't necessarily rub off on the witches. Just ask Bitner, and she will tell you that her religion doesn't expect her to love all others.
I used to have the impression that all religions other than the modernized Pagan religions took orders from their believers. But Bitner sure does put her gods in place when she insists they love every body, while she doesn't have to love others if and when she so chooses not to!
The problem is with all religion ... it's what it's "cracked-up" to be, and it always has a very ugly side.
Religion or no religion ... selfishness can't get beyond itself.

Bitner's words

Do I believe the Divine loves me? Of course. I believe the Divine loves you, too. We are to hold all life to be sacred, but that does NOT mean we have to show love for individuals.
This is not Christianity. We don't have to 'turn the other cheek'. We do not have to 'love our enemies as ourselves'.
You got it this time? I hope so, because I'm no longer playing your game of constantly repeating answers to the same damn questions, only to have you ignore my answers, twist my answers, or forget my answers. No matter how many different ways you rephrase the questions, my answer will remain the same.

What a pile of bullshit! The ancient Pagans were as brutal as were any other group of humans.

Pagans and social justice

Generosity, justice and fairness are old Pagan virtues, and Robin Hood is one aspect of our Pagan Gods. In fairy tales, the hero/a wins the aid of fortune when she shares her loaf with a beggar or lays his cloak at the feet of a poor widow. The greedy, hoarding, grasping or jealous person ends up defeated and despised.

Is ZOROASTRIANISM a pagan religion?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Pagan is such a broad term. Essentially all religions are "pagan" sense they are generally somewhat nature based. The concept of heaven and hell came from Zoroastrianism. As far as I am aware they place a lot of emphasis on fire, not to say that they worship it, but their main deity is a fire one. That religion actually had a huge impact on xtianity early on, but there are still lots of differences.

You claimed that I "insist" that my Goddess love everyone. That was a lie, as my post you quoted here proves.

To believe that your goddess loves everyone IS put forth by your insistence.

If you don't believe it is true, why would you even make such a statement?

When the Christians state that hell exists, it is because they are certain it DOES exist.

They don't say it and then use a disclaimer that it is ONLY their belief. They believe it, BECAUSE they believe it is true.

Do you believe that your belief in a goddess is based on a lie, or on truth!

You FOOL!!!

When I believed a god existed, I believed that my belief was based on absolute truth. Otherwise I never would have believed it.

When it comes to such a belief, there is NO sitting on a fence.

Bitner claims she believes in reincarnation. Is that simply a wishy-washy belief, or is she certain that her belief is right on the mark of truth? If she doubts it, does she really believe it?

That would be like the pope saying "I believe that god exists, but it's only my belief ... and I don't know if my belief is based on truth.

Such double-talking nonsense!!!

Bullshit. It is not me "insisting" on anything.

"If you don't believe it is true, why would you even make such a statement?"

Of course I believe it. STILL not me "insisting". You're full of shit.

"When the Christians state that hell exists, it is because they are certain it DOES exist."

They are not stating that it is their belief, but are saying it is a fact. There is a difference. One that you are too dishonest to acknowledge.

"They don't say it and then use a disclaimer that it is ONLY their belief."

Of course not. They are saying it's a fact.

"They believe it, BECAUSE they believe it is true."

And I believe my Goddess loves everyone, BECAUSE I believe it is true.

"Do you believe that your belief in a goddess is based on a lie, or on truth!

The only fool here is you. You're a pathetic sack of crap. If I claimed that my Goddess only loved certain people, you'd be all over THAT, just like you do with Christians. But because I don't, and you can't claim that my religion is exlusive like other religions are, then you whine about THAT.

Your desperation to prove that all religions are the same, when they are clearly not, has MADE you foolish.

If Miriam's "speech" seems to good to be true ... chances are, it is because she is just as selfish as any other human on the planet.

Talk about the "good way to live" is cheap, and no matter which religion, it always peddles the same bullshit.

If you follow "my" lead, you will do it "right."

Goodness and the Goddess

How do I know what is good? Empathy tells me. That which furthers life, health, beauty, biodiversity, freedom, compassion, love, fairness and justice is good. If I act with integrity in the service of what I love, if I take responsibility for my actions and the well-being of others, I will do good.

Of course there is no fence-sitting.

You are just as certain that your goddess is real, as are the Christians that believe their god is real.

If you don't believe it is a fact, then you shouldn't have taught your children to believe it as a fact.

Only agnostics sit on the fence and don't what they believe as truth.

Actually you stated that I am an agnostic and you stated it as a fact.

You are full of "facts."

No where in Bitner's conversations with the Christians did she use the disclaimer ... "this is simply what I believe." She stated it ALL as affirmative.

Bitner’s response

Hell doesn't exist.

My afterlife is already set. Everyone's is. However, it won't include your mythological heaven or hell.

If your god wanted everyone to be saved, they would be. It's that simple. No self-respecting Deity would even have to create such a place as hell. It makes no logical or spiritual sense.

Bitner dug her heals in the same way the Christians dug their heals in ... but she likes to claim she was just expressing her belief as a belief.

What a lot of hooey.

They were all certain of their deities, and how the deities behave, the natures of the deities and blah, blah, blah.
