As predicted, the GOPasaus will quietly drop any new anti-gay bills. That said, I don't expect them to suddenly support ENDA or a legislative repeal of DOMA. They'll just go mum on it all, at least until 2016.

You are correct, and it's still funny; ya know what's funny? Incredibly, this won't be good enough for their extremist followers. Someone, somewhere, is going to start screaming that they should have fought, fought, fought, fought,... because these people, basing their views and actions on their "ideological imperative(s)," literally believe that anything but undying opposition is "bad."

I believe the ultraconservative extremists are gigantic, major contributors -- the majority of the contribution, without doubt -- to the American mood of adversarial viciousness and constant political-connected savagery that has evolved over the last few years. As I would think some of *YOU* would be quick to point out, that refusal to budge, coupled with viciousness and constant criticism and prejudice, only turns the other side equally savage, intractable, and hateful.

Aaaaaand that's where we stand now, as a nation.
