"Smart" had nothing to do with Hagel attending TEC:

"He married, divorced, and remarried, this time to Lilibet Ziller of Meridian, Mississippi, a congressional aide whom he’d met while working in Washington. He was prairie Catholic. She was Southern Baptist. As a compromise, they and their two teenage children, Allyn and Ziller, go to an Episcopal church."

As usual, you didn't bother to read the linked story.

I don't think you know what you are talking about. You sure don't know what that word means or you would spell it correctly.

From Forward Day by Day!
.

SATURDAY, January 12

Galatians 3:23-29; 4:4-7.* There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
This is a favorite verse of those whose favorite adjective for the church is “inclusive.” They typically want leadership positions opened to persons whom others would bar. The issue today often centers on gender or sexual orientation, but that wasn’t always the issue. In the fourth century, a group called the Donatists sought to bar from church leadership anyone who under threat of persecution had thrown incense on the altar of the emperor, thereby compromising his faith, even if that person had later repented.

Augustine’s teaching eventually carried the day and became the orthodox Christian position. Augustine taught that the character of the priest or bishop has no bearing on the validity of the sacraments, for it is Christ, not the clergy, who acts in the sacraments and validates them. People then, as now, differed about moral questions and whom to ordain, but in any case, nothing a priest or bishop does (and if we’re going to judge our leaders, there’s more than sexual orientation to consider) cancels the promises of Christ.

... even if they are barred for good reasons?

"VOL first broke the news that former Nevada Episcopal bishop Jefferts Schori, now presiding bishop, received into the priesthood a known sexual predator from the Roman Catholic Church, one Bede Parry.

"... The two page confession by Parry says that four men who are now Catholic prelates knew of - but kept silent about - his crimes. The confession names at least ten other Catholic and Episcopal officials in California, Nevada and Minnesota who were all told of Parry's crimes, including the nation's highest ranking Episcopal figure, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori.

"She did nothing about it except to mouth platitudes that he should not be allowed near children even though psychiatric reports reveal that Parry would act out again, if a situation arose where he could.

"Still, Parry was able to work as music director and priest at All Saints Episcopal Church in Las Vegas, NV ...

"How is it that the highest official in The Episcopal Church can slam the door in the face of allegations that she knew about Parry's behavior and still received him into the Episcopal Church?"

Only if your definition of "bigot" means being against receiving a former Roman Monk -- who just happens to also be a gay pedophile -- into the church.

Is that why Topix "fired" me instead of Sel Jones?

Oh, wait, Topix didn't fire me, but instead removed Sel as editor of this forum!
Was it because Sel was "a lousy prejudiced editor with absolutely no scruples or morals"?
