The stalling of Illinois' gay-marriage push - at least for now - shows the difficulty of approving legislation to legalize it, even with a nudge from the home-state president, steadily rising support in the polls and national momentum from the November elections.

The people voted for obama and Republicans and democrats in Congress-not gay marriage. And polls are easily manipulated to get the results you want.

In other words, if we don't engage in idolatry, God won't turn the straight folk gay again, got it. What that has to do with this subject is beyond me though.

The World Nut Daily? Seriously? You do realize that all they are trying to do is make you angry at things they are deliberately misinforming you about don't you? That site has absolutely nothing credible to say about anything.

Voters declare themselves bigots when they vote against equality.

Don't want to be called a bigot, then stop voting and acting like one.

Thats fine-its a matter of states rights. It should be up to the people.I wonder what the divorce rate will be with gay marriages? Its about 50% with straights.

Which people should it be left up to? Those it affects, or those that it does not?

At first the divorce rate among same-sex couples will likely be quite low compated to heteros, because most of those marrying are couples who've been together 10 or 20 or 30 or 40 years already. But after a generation or so it will likely be about the same as it is for heteros.

So if the people vote to ban blacks from marrying or christians from opening a business or men from taking boner pills you'd accept that just because the people voted for it?

Careful what you wish for when you're in the majority, because eventually you'll be in the minority on an issue you view as a fundamental right.

The constitution is there to protect the rights of minorities from the will of the majority.

My thinking is that this is a matter of states rights.I*m aware of the Supreme Court.I know what the court is there for.

And states don't have the right to deprive minorities of their constitutional rights, not even through a majority vote. That's why the SCOTUS has overturned past discriminatory state laws and will eventually overturn the most recent batch of discriminatory state laws/amendments.

Dont assume SCOTUS will strike down laws against gay marriage as discriminatory.
Do laws in favor of gay marriage discriminate against religious freedom? If not why not?Do such laws discriminate against straights?Dont assume the SCOTUS only thinks the way you think. Those guy can fool you at times-such as upholding obamacare.

No. they in no way discriminate against religions or interfere with religious freedom. To think they in any way could is asinine and shows your lack of knowledge on this issue.
